I visited a doctor yesterday because I had some severe back pains. After explaining to the doctor what had happened she left the room to consult with one of her colleagues. That's when I realized that she was a resident doctor.
They had no idea that I could hear every word that was discussed from the room they were in. In a nutshell, they both thought I was probably a druggie because I told her that tylenol didn't do anything for the pain. Her collague told her that if I asked for something stronger then that's a "red flag"...
I am so outraged right now and I don't plan on letting this go...at least not yet.
Can you believe this? I went to a healthcare provider for help and this is what I got...more pains!!

Talk to HUSSEIN Obama.
He can get you drugs.

A sad but true statement. You did fit the profile of a drug seeker.
“Back pain” and “Need something stronger” ARE red flag phrases.

Which of the over-the-counter pain relievers generally works best for you for normal pains?
Did they get around to discuss the clinical reasons for your back pain?

Most walk-ins complaining of severe pain unaccompanied by visible injury, who simultaneously claim that OTC painkillers do not work, are drug-seekers.
Don't blame the doctor - blame America's junkie population.

To: The Carters
Yes, it makes perfect sense. A lot of people go into doctors to try to get prescriptions for pain killers in order to feed an addiction. The doctor was doing her job. Sorry, but the question has to be asked and the issue has to be considered. Welcome to the real world.

You signed up to tell us this ... why? Does your screen name indicate a multiple personality disorder? I’m just asking ... it could have been one of your ‘others’ that is the druggie.
To: The Carters
Your a Carter...I thought you guys had little pills coming out the wazoo. That said, walking in with back pain and saying that Tylenol doesn’t work is the oldest druggie trick in the book.

BTW, the 'more pains' you are complaining about are self inflicted by your unwillingness to live in the real world and not 'let it go'. The doctor was doing her job, get over it.

Try (a) acupuncture and (b) a chiropractor.
Sometimes Motrin or Aleve work better than Tylenol for muscle or joint pain.
To: The Carters
Go to a chiropractor. He/she will do you a ton more good than pain killers.
To: The Carters
In a nutshell, they both thought I was probably a druggie... Well, are you?
This is a leap year post thing right?? Welcome to FR.

The doctor was my dad, and the resident was probably my brother. Walk it off.
