My Daughter has come down with stomach ulcers, H. Pylori, my son has also come down with problem, a mite earlier.
This has been the bane Of The Little Bill Clan for at least the past 150 years, killed my Old Man.
I would some info, I haven't had an acid stomach since I gave up Jack 35 years ago, is the evil Mendal at work?
I live on Maui, we don’t have them here.
He should turn himself in and plead insanity. Shouldn't get more than twenty yars.
It depends on what’s causing it.
I have an acid reflux problem, and a prescription for prevacid has solved it. Also, I watch what I eat and I avoid eating too near bedtime.
But stomach ulcers may be an entirely different problem. You need a good doctor—not always easy to find, I’m afraid. But I think you have consult your doctor, and also maybe look around and get a second opinion or two.
I had an endoscopy a couple of years ago for an unrelated thing, nada, in the digestive area.
Go see a Doctor. Ulcer treatment has changed radically in the last 15 years.
Eat lots of yogurt and take probiotics (get them in the refrigerated section of a health food store.) Take them anyway but especially while on antibiotics.
‘Stomack Ulsers’ sounds like a good name for a band.
I’m serious too.
Read the links. Go to the doctor. Get the tests. Follow his advice.
<[p>I plead Insanity!
Bill, a simple “regimen” of antibiotics will knock out most ulcers.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT to see a competent doctor, because the H Pylori infections were recently found to be a major underlying factor in stomach cancer.
Skip the nutritionists and the psychologists. They SOMETIMES have success in reducing the severity of the symptoms, but the illness continues-and it can kill you.
I believe the only sure way to know it’s caused by H Pylori is through a lab test which requires a sampling of the stomach tissue. I had personal experience with this and had a gastroscopy with biopsy which turned out to be negative for H Pylori as a cause of my ulcer. If it is caused by H Pylori the cure is antibiotic treatment. I am a Registered Nurse which doesn’t make me an expert, but I do have background.
I had one about ten years ago. Antibiotics took care of it and I haven’t had a recurrence. I still enjoy my beer and hot sauce. It’s the bacteria that starts the trouble. Once you kill it you should be fine.
Don’t pay any attention to the wise acre posters. Antacids are not the mainstay of ulcer therapy any longer. Neither is milk or anything to coat the stomach. You want your daughter to be treated with a combination of an antibiotic and a proton pump inhibitor. Your family doctor should be able to prescribe both for her. The antibiotic is for the H. pylori which, if untreated, will result in future RECURRENCES of the ulcer. The proton pump inhibitor is to suppress gastric acid secretion. This is all very mainstream medical care and should be available through your family physician (or hers). If he or she is uncomfortable approaching ulcer management in this way, your daughter should ask for a referral to a gastroenterologist or specialist in treating GI diseases.
Uh...stomack ulsers are series, especially if they’re hugh?
OK, all kidding aside, lay a boot in your kids’ butts and get them to a doctor. As many other posters have stated, ulcer treatment has changed radically the past few years.

So stop being obtuse and pass the advice on to them.
Bismuth subsalicylate, aka Pepto-Bismol. It is effective against the H. pylori bacteria.
When I had a stomach ulcer, the med the doctor had me on included 6 bismuth per day for 14 days. The original prescription was Helidac, a combination of bismuth subsalicylate, metronidazole, and tetracycline.
