Message to the FRiberal RINOs: McCain is YOUR Fault!
Wagglebee | 2/7/08 | Wagglebee

To all of you FRiberals out there, and that means all of you Rooty Rooters and Romneyites, it's your fault that the GOP is almost for certain stuck with McCain as the nominee. Now, I don't mean those of you who voted for Romney on Super Tuesday in an effort to split the vote, but the rest of you are culpable.

Conservative FReepers have spent the past year listening to the likes of you tell us that conservatives have "had their foot on the neck" of the GOP for too long. We were told that all that mattered was someone who was strong on terror. We were told that we needed someone with strong name recognition. We were told that generally the GOP decides whose "turn it is" and then nominates that person. We were told that we needed someone who can get independent votes. We were told that ANY Republican would nominate strict constructionists to the Federal bench. We were told that winning was all that mattered.

Now, some of you who said this were supporting Rooty, some of you were supporting Romney. But you were all pretty much saying the same thing: you preferred your candidates to a conservative. Some of you even got so upset with conservative FReepers that you ran away to start a RINO forum

Well, guess what? You were successful, though not in the way you thought you would be. It looks like it's McCain's "turn." But don't worry, McCain is a war hero and strong on terrorism (as long as we don't actually take terrorists into custody or try to keep them from crossing into the United States through open borders), he says he can get independents to vote for him, he says he will appoint constructionists, and most important, he has name recognition.

So, if your real agenda was to destroy the GOP, you very well may have succeeded. If your agenda was to create a "Democrat Light" party, you have almost certainly succeeded. If your agenda was to keep the Democrats out of the White House, you have probably failed.

But regardless of what your agenda was, you have harmed the United States of America -- I just hope it's not permanent.

Yes, that's right. Anyone who supported Romney, running on a Reagan pro-life platform is a RINO. I guess everyone at National Review is a RINO, and the founder of national Right to Life is a Rino and on and on. /s

There was a HUGE difference between Romney and Giuliani. And I was proud to support my candidate, one of the sharpest, most able men to run for the presidency in quite awhile.

As for the rest of your post, you didn't hear people rooting for Romney making those kinds of arguments. I know I didn't.

It was conservatives like YOU, who so falsely labeled Romney, who gave us McCain. Unfortunately we are now all going to have to live with it.

FReepers might be important, but they are not that important.

Why isn’t it the fault of the voters who voted for McCain, 99.99% of them who have never heard of Free Republic?

The fact that the vast majority of Rudy supporters at this forum were either banned or left a year ago didn’t really affect the elections, did it?

“ANY Republican would nominate strict constructionists to the Federal bench”

Ah yes, the fab group led by McCain and the judgeship block. Ah yes.

If McCain’s staff and money ran out, how’d he win? Were the voting machines electronic? Do the provisional ballots outnumber the precinct voters...again?

I like Fred. Do I get yelled at too?

Sorry, there WERE more conservative candidates but understand this: They didn’t get enough votes. Pretty simple really.

See, there’s this process where candidates have to get these little things called “votes”. The one with the most votes wins. That’s how it works. Don’t blame others— you’re the one that didn’t work hard enough to get votes for your guy. Whine to someone else.

...and I mean that in a nice way. :-)

Nope, we had two perfectly good conservative candidates, Fred and Hunter, the RINOs pretended that they didn’t exist. They were swiftboated by omission.

Im either OUT or a suicide voter FOR Obama!!

Welcome to Free Republic.

Anybody else notice how many new signups we have from people that simply insist that the GOP is not conservative enough, and so their solution is to vote for HillBama?

Imagine that...

“So, if your real agenda was to destroy the GOP, you very well may have succeeded. If your agenda was to create a “Democrat Light” party, you have almost certainly succeeded. If your agenda was to keep the Democrats out of the White House, you have probably failed.”

Precisely. Thanks to the Rino cheerleaders, there’s only one way to keep Hillary out now. Vote Obama.

Whine to someone else.

I'm really not whining here. I'm telling the FRiberals not to whine, they wanted a RINO and that's what they got.

We have a systemic institutional problem that is far more serious than FRiberalism. Despite the disaster of the last Congressional elections and the misrepresentations from our own party, nothing meaningful has evolved that offers near term rewards. To the contrary, we’re getting poked in the other eye by an element within the party that no longer reserves a modicum of self restraint for its animus to the Conservative core.

It is probably expected that we will be left to mutter amongst ourselves as the self-anointed Republican leaders redefine Conservatism extinguishing whatever integrity remains. I’m not sure where the road to hope forks from this reality, but I guess we shouldn’t stop driving.

Nonsense.

They didn’t get the votes. See... that’s the important part. Nobody can “un-vote” for anybody. Voting is an action that people take. Not enough people took that action with regard to Fred or Duncan. So they’re gone.

Blaming others and getting all emotional doesn’t help anybody.

They were swiftboated by omission.

That's an incredibly bizarre new definition of being "swiftboated." Any candidate who fails to get any traction can claim your definition.
