The Tide came rolling in on National Signing Day. After an impressive flurry of commitments in the past 48 hours, and thanks to a solid recruiting foundation that was laid in the spring and summer, Alabama has been crowned by Rivals.com as the recruiting national champions for the class of 2008.
The Crimson Tide finished with an amazing run in Nick Saban's second recruiting class in Tuscaloosa. Saban and his staff landed three five-star players and 18 four-star recruits, giving them enough of a push to edge Notre Dame and SEC rival Florida.
As of 3 p.m. EST, the Tide was sitting with 2,819 points, just ahead of Notre Dame, Florida, Oklahoma and Georgia. The rest of the Rivals.com top 10 consisted of Miami at No. 6, Florida State at No. 7, Ohio State at No. 8, Michigan at No. 9 and USC at No. 10.
There are several uncommitted players who could cause some shifts in the top-10, but nobody has enough left on the board to knock the Tide from their perch.
THE TOP 10
1. Alabama 2. Notre Dame 3. Florida 4. Oklahoma 5. Georgia 6. Miami 7. Florida State 8. Ohio State 9. Michigan 10. USC

National championships? Get over it. Bear's a corpse and has been for some time.
Congrats on your #1 recruiting rating. Better hope the NCAA's not too interested. May be the death penalty the next time you're caught.

Hope not.
I think Saban proved that he doesn’t tolerate bull this year...hopefully the leaders ‘got it’.

Now if Nick can get them to play up to their billing.

4 from the SEC West, and just 3 from the East. A bit surprising to see Ole Miss on, and Tennessee off the list.

The numbers are skewed a bit by the number of recruits. Alabama had a lot of recruits, but in the top 10, the average quality of the recruits was highest between Notre Dame and USC.

Not really. Houston Nutt is a good closer.

They signed 33. They must expect a lot to not qualify.
Last year, UGA had all their signees qualify! Maybe classes should be rated based on how many are on campus in the fall. :-)
