I’d guess health or issue related to his temper. Knight has faults, but he’s never been the kind of guy to bail on a team.

I just happened to catch a replay of an Indiana game from the 80’s with Coach Knight. I was stunned by how thin the players were in that era! Now they could pass for football players.

This article contains an interesting fact about Knight you don't hear much.
Knight always has taken great pride in the academic achievement of his players, and during his coaching career, which began in 1965 at Army, all but four of his four-year players completed degrees, a ratio of nearly 98 percent.
Considering the numbers at most big-time basketball schools, that's quite an achievement. You don't have to be a nice guy to be a good man.

It is not a health matter. He is fed up with the kids ... they are just not like they used to be and the parents are not doing a very good job.

I was watching Super Bowl VII the other night and noticed how “thin” the players looked.

Since coming to Tech, the only person he has attacked was the Chancellor - and I think everyone applauded!

The man will go down in history as the Champ of the Greatest Chair Toss.
And the winningest coach in NCAA Division I history........
At least he had the courage to recognize that in college sports, winning IS EVERYTHING and so he gave it his all.....
Good for you Coach, I look forward to seeing you on the Outdoor Life channel with guest appearances on fishing..........
His zero tolerance for stupid ass questions from wannabe sports reporters is worthy of hall of fame status alone.......
And for some reason, General Patton comes to mind.............Patton and Knight, two great generals drawing considerable controversy but both indisputable winners.....

No relation. I wouldn’t take a job coaching a Big 12 team anyway.

I just never cared for the guy........he all but showed his ass acting like one. Last news clip I saw of him a few weeks or a month or so ago was when he toll press to go F themselves or something too that effect. When he comes on I have to change the channel with the grand kids around. Sure he won games. I just didn’t like him.
