So he lost Super Bowl “S”? How many did he lose? 10? 15?
He lost one.
Joe Montana played into oblivion during his stint with KC. He was just an average QB during that stint.

Out of all the games I have went to at GB, the one I wouldnt go to any longer is the Packers Vikings games. There’s real hate there. And all because of Randy Moss and his butt rubbing antics a few years ago. If your from Minn and drive through GB you often will get the evil eye from folks from Wis. on the highway. I rented a car one time and the thing had a Minn plate on it, so I know.

I imagine there have been several baseball teams with 18 game winning streaks...maybe because there are so few football games is why its easier to go for an unbeaten season.
I wasn't talking about just a winning streak. I'm talking about a complete full season. Sure, it's a lot easier to win 18 games in a row, or easier to win 16 games, but, should it be that easy to have a perfect season? Perhaps it's the structure of football that makes it so easy, that of course including the short season and the recovery time afforded between games for bruised and hurt players In baseball, if a player is hurt, he very likely will be out for at least the next few game in the week and the team will be less likely to win if one of those hurt is a "star" player.

You are denigrating a guy who has quarterbacked his team to victory in the SB in 3 out of 4 tries, ‘cuz there’s a guy who won all 4.
Dan Marino never won a super bowl, demonstrating the uselessness of your calculus. He was a better QB (stat making up time) than 78.4 percent of all qbs having played in the SB. And I don’t even like the dolphins.
Joe Montana has always been my fav (well besides Unitas).

Yea, but the 1972 Miami Dolphins are still the best team ever. Heh heh...can you say "UNDEFEATED WINNERS OF THE SUPERBOWL?" Oh, that's right you can't...cause your team couldn't do it.
Cheaters don't deserve to win. Na-na-na-na-na-na. Maybe Belichek will think twice about cheating next time.
Oh yea, and how about that class he demonstrated, walking off the field before the game was finished. WAAAAAGH!

I suspect, by your post, you are not all that familiar with American Football.
Nope! That's not it.
I follow and watch football every week, first as a NY Jets fan and then, after moving to Tampa, a Buccaneer fan.
The question pertains to the small number of games and the likely-hood that in any one season, although not likely to happen too often, some team could go "perfect" for a season. Football is the only sport with the chances of that happening being very high. That would not happen in any other "professional" sport that I'm aware.

Boyoboy...words can't describe it. That "Great Escape" by Eli and that "use your head" catch by Tyree--simply amazing.
Thanks for the ping...

No, I'm not denigrating him at all. I'm just saying that those who annointed him the second coming of Joe Montana can now be heard plucking their heads from their asses.
With 35 seconds and 3 timeouts Joe would have been able to at least get the tying field goal.
Brady is a very good QB. He's not a great QB. Yet.
And one of his Super Bowl wins, by a field goal, will forever have an asterisk because his team filmed the opponent's pre-game walkthrough.

Really? I have seen stories that the Patriots Players were talking smack about how much better they were than the Giants during the last drive.

There is only one Colts player that is irreplaceable; as long as Manning is around, the Colts will be among the top teams in the AFC. Polian can replace any other player on the roster. You gave me chills. For several years, Indy fans would get all worked up at the pre-season drafts and deals that seemed just ignorant. Then, as things panned out and the genius of the organization started to show, we just nod at almost anything they do. They seem to find the stars at draft time and pass on the problem kids with astonishing results. The team is STILL young.
The league raised an eyebrow when we let The Edge go. No problem. We let Stokely go. No problem. I could go on and date some of the real wowers, but you get the point.
What you said was spot on, however. All the eggs are really in one basket with Manning at QB.
As for the salary cap? I am constantly amazed at how the colts, players work with the owners to keep the team together. Going franchise here, moving incentives there. They really are a classy bunch that, for the most part, like playing together and for this team.
BTW - Jeff Saturday is one of my favorites and I agree, he will be very hard to replace. Folks do not understand just how important that position is. He is the QB of all the blocking schemes. When Manning changes the play, he has to change the blocking scheme (in a couple of short seconds and with input from other linemen that can see level 2.
I wish someday, they would mike a center and put it on the Internet, unedited. It would likely not be for children, but it would certainly explain a lot about all that noise that goes on right before the ball is snapped.
Thanks for the post.

True, but no team in ANY sport had the STYLE of the 1973 Knicks!
(Hijacking this thread with basketball nostalgia).
Anyone who dares to talk about Third World Kickball, however, deserves to get their a-s kicked.

Three days before they beat the San Diego Chargers, and more than two weeks before Super Bowl XLII, the team egotistically filed paperwork with the US Patent and Trademark Office to cash in on sales of T-shirts, caps, posters and all kinds of Pats paraphernalia.Just good business sense on their part, really. I'm not going to fault them for that.
But the "18-1" trademark purchase by the NY Post is a trip.

I’m a Seahawk fan who is tired of the NFL picking the winner before the game even happens.
What was with the Giants fumble being recovered by the Pats and then given back to the Giants?
Once again the best team got hosed by the refs.

I completely agree with you. The only thing that gets me—just a little—was the Marshall Faulk trade. They just plain gave him away, and I just don’t understand that.
Even if you think you need to part company with Faulk, I can’t believe he wasn’t worth more than a second and fifth round pick.
