As a Jets fan, I was supposed to root against the Giants - but the fact that the Patriots blatantly and unapologetically cheated against the Jets early on soured me on them - and their anointed status exacerbated my distaste.

After the disgraceful way the Patriots acquitted themselves, it's almost worth it to hear the boasting from Giants fans all next season.

Watch for Pats, Colts, and Cowboys to be good a couple of years the drop.

The Colts have a cap problem right now, and it will likely hit them in the next couple of years. However, as long as Bill Polian is still in charge, I except the Colts to be among the best teams in the league. Polian is the best personnel man in the league, and maybe ever. There is only one Colts player that is irreplaceable; as long as Manning is around, the Colts will be among the top teams in the AFC. Polian can replace any other player on the roster.

This isn't to say that some aren't more difficult to replace than others--Jeff Saturday, for instance, comes to mind as an extremely important player--but it can be done.

Favre is by far the best ever to play that position.

Favre is certainly one of the greats and his durability alone should keep him in contention for the "best ever" tag but Favre has thrown more interceptions than any other QB and he's lost Super Bowls and only won one.

He is second to Montana in pass completions, passing touchdowns, passing yards and passing attempts in the playoffs.

Joe has more Super Bowl MVP awards than Favre has Super Bowl appearances.

Favre has great instincts, great moves and is exciting to watch, but in the end it's really no contest.

Joe Montana is clearly the best QB ever to play the game.

I'd say that something that has only been accomplished twice in 35 years would not qualify as 'easy' in my book. The UCLA basketball team won 88 consecutive games between 1971 and 74. That is a phenomenal record, but keep in mind that the college season is only around 25 games a year.

With sports like football and college basketball with relatively short seasons, it is far more statistically likely for a team to go undefeated than for sports with far more games per season like baseball, hockey or pro basketball. The fact that it has only been accomplished twice in the modern era of pro football says something about the level of competition.

In the end, it is just a matter of probability.

I agree. John Wooden was probably the great coach and teacher ever -- and a total class gentleman as well.

In 12 years, his teams won the NCAA title (College basketball's Super Bowl) 10 times. He's 96 years old now.
