How do you adapt between using a two-button PC mouse with a scroll wheel to a one-button MAC mouse? It would seem to be frustrating as heck to switch back and forth?
Um, Macs haven’t shipped with a one button mouse for over 5 years now.
And you’ve been able to use ANY PC USB mouse on a Mac (including being able to use the right mouse button) since 1997.
FYI, Macs ship with a 5 button plus scroll ball mouse now. How do you PC users put up with only two buttons and a wheel?
I use a logitech 4 button marble with my mac.
It's hard. You start to miss the cool scroll ball on the Mac, the scroll ball button click for Dashboard, and the squeeze button click for Expose. You also miss being able to lazily press almost anywhere on the mouse for a left-click, even using both fingers, as this accidentally pops up a context menu in Windows a lot for me. The only way that doesn't work on a Mac is if you click just with your middle finger, as that's a right-click.
The way I deal with this is that I just plug my old USB Windows mouse into any one of the USB ports on my Mac, and it just works. End of problem. Left click, right click, scroll wheel, it all just works.
Years ago, I splurged on a shareware application called USB Overdrive. This adds all sorts of extra control to your mouse, trackball, etc. In about 3 minutes the old Windows mouse was able to do some amazing tricks. $20 today. And you try before you buy, so if you don't like it, you don't pay.
If you don't have an old USB mouse, go get a new one for about $20.
I made my Mac mouse function as if it has 2 buttons. Went to the Apple menu, then System Preferences, then into the section for Keyboard & Mouse.
Where's the "Aw, Jeez?" guy when you need him?
If the PC mouse is USB, you just plug it into the Mac and keep on using it.
Um... where did you get the idea that the [current] Mac Mighty Mouse is "one-button"? The Mighty Mouse has 2 standard buttons ("left" and "right"), an extra button on the side(s), and has a scroll wheel/ball that works both up/down and left/right. And it's all re-programmable to your liking in the Mouse preference pane.
I use a Logitech MX-610 mouse on this Mac. It has TEN buttons. The MX-610 is/was marketed by Logitech as "PC-only". Logitech offers no Mac drivers and no Mac support for this one.
I plugged it into my PowerMac g4/1.25ghz "dualie" and OS X recognized it IMMMEDIATELY. No drivers, NO NOTHING. In fact, while I didn't think the "volume up", "volume down", and "mute" buttons would function, OS X knew what they were for and they work perfectly.
I have further programmed the additional buttons using either "USB Overdrive" or "SteerMouse".
Do you have any more complaints about the Mac and mice?

It's never been a problem. For a while, I was using a 3 button Logitech mouse at work and kept the one button mouse at home.
Now I have a Mighty Mouse with a scroll ball.
In some cases, the single button combined with the keyboard reduces the number of steps to perform functions.
