January 11, 2008)--Authorities in North Carolina said late Friday morning pregnant Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach is dead.
They said shes buried in a shallow grave, for which investigators are now searching.
They identified the suspect in the case as a Marine officer whom she accused of sexually assaulting her.
Police earlier were planning to interview a man who lived with her and said he would answer questions that "will shed a lot of light on the case."
Authorities said again Friday Marine Sgt. Daniel Durham isn't a suspect, but police believe he's the last person to speak with the Marine.
She disappeared Dec. 14 ahead of her expected testimony in a military investigation into her claim a senior officer had sexually assaulted her.
Court documents show the investigation went sour amid inconsistencies in the woman's story and allegations that she's bipolar and a compulsive liar.
Search warrants show she was facing a possible discharge from the service.
Lauterbach was eight months pregnant when she disappeared.
Trust me, it's kinda difficult,
BI POLAR!!!!
A liar is a liar.
Skip the politically correct excuse.
Her “compulsive lying” might just be what got her murdered.
Yeah,
makes me think of her as “The Wicked Step-mother” trying to get a stab in.
Missed that ... so the
STEP MOTHER is calling her a “compulsive liar”?
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Corporals and above are considered “NCOs” = “non-commissioned officers”. The liberals who inhabit the dying, socialist Democrat newsrooms would likely get easily confused.

The body of Maria Lauterbach, who vanished nearly a month ago before she was to testify in a military probe, is believed to be located in a shallow grave in coastal Onslow County, said Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown at a press conference.
Lauterbach alleged that she was sexually assaulted by a senior officer but that the investigation had gone sour, according to court documents. Authorities do not know where the suspect Cpl. Cesar Armando Lauren, 21, is located.
“They don’t know where he is,” Brown said. “He’s gone.”

I think that’s the case.
Often WHO says something tells more about the situation that WHAT they say.
So the prime suspect is missing?
Making him even more suspect?
Is the stepmother the one we have been seeing on the news? The one who was going to visit her?
‘Corporals and above are considered NCOs = non-commissioned officers. The liberals who inhabit the dying, socialist Democrat newsrooms would likely get easily confused.’
Yep. I was an RM2 in the Navy upon discharge.
If they haven’t found the grave yet, how do they know it’s “shallow”.
Has the media already been out there to measure the depth or are they just adding more adjectives for the reader’s benefit?
I guess shallow sounds more interesting than “dirt filled grave”.

He’s probably in Mexico by now.
So they say they know she’s in a shallow grave...but they don’t know where...and they don’t have the suspect in custody and don’t know where he is.
Huh? How do they know she’s dead and buried if they don’t have Lauren in custody? Maybe he told somebody he did it?
This is just weird.

Lifetime, the “Men Are Scum” channel.
**So the prime suspect is missing?**
Had an 8 hour start on LE. IIRC a witness (military) came forward & offered information that Maria Lauterbach had been dead since Dec 20th, buried in the County’s jurisdiction; that Cpl.Cesar Lauren was involved.
Unfortunately - the police had been unsuccessful in their attempts to question Cesar Lauren - on advice of his lawyers. He lawyered up real early.
At about the time the *friend* tipped off the police - Cesar fled.
More evidence that, women do not belong in the military PERIOD
*** Maybe he told somebody he did it?***
They have a witness (not the room-mate Durham who had been in California) but someone else in the military.
Apparently - Lauterbach had accused Lauren of rape - but then went wobbly and resumed a *friendship* with him. She did not take advantage of MWP (military witness protection) so she, sadly, did not feel threatened.
So TWO people knew she was dead and buried?
Sheesh.
A sergeant is an “officer”? The press conrinues its unbroken record of being a total dumbass when it comes to reporting the military.
