Missing (Pregnant) Marine Dead, Authorities Say

January 11, 2008)--Authorities in North Carolina said late Friday morning pregnant Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach is dead.

They said she’s buried in a shallow grave, for which investigators are now searching.

They identified the suspect in the case as a Marine officer whom she accused of sexually assaulting her.

Police earlier were planning to interview a man who lived with her and said he would answer questions that "will shed a lot of light on the case."

Authorities said again Friday Marine Sgt. Daniel Durham isn't a suspect, but police believe he's the last person to speak with the Marine.

She disappeared Dec. 14 ahead of her expected testimony in a military investigation into her claim a senior officer had sexually assaulted her.

Court documents show the investigation went sour amid inconsistencies in the woman's story and allegations that she's bipolar and a compulsive liar.

Search warrants show she was facing a possible discharge from the service.

Lauterbach was eight months pregnant when she disappeared.

Is that their unfinished garage? Did they drywall it before painting?

if there was blood on the cement garage floor, they might have had to sandblast.

And I’m just going to point out that CL is either really stupid/really cocky/both.

He made a “fire pit” in the back yard using cement blocks that looks like a grave.

They painted their living room a lovely blood slatter rust.

He left lots of clues. Let’s hope they catch him so LE can use all these things against him.

... or bleach, maybe. Does the area under the fire extinguisher look cleaner than under the paint cans?

That Cesar Armando Laurean might not face a death penalty makes me sick. After I heard of him holding a barbecue on the spot where the bodies of Maria and her baby were buried, I have had a difficult time following this story. What pain those innocent victims must have suffered.

Not only is this sadistic monster from Mexico, but Mexico will not extradite unless we give him a sweetheart deal. President George Bush might love Mexico but I am starting to despise that primitive nation. Some of us were talking about boycotting anything Mexican and refusing to hire Mexicans.

I am venting. But the savage brutality of the killings sickens me.

some garage floors are poorly finished and are porous, making it difficult even if turpentine is used. Another way to mask blood on the garage floor would be to spill red paint over the blood and then clean up the paint. I’m not sure how effective lumenol would be in that case.

I am a little confused as it seems he was there for two different transactions based on the time stamps. Anybody?

Yeah. He probably emptied her account, and then his, too. Wonder how much the wife had left to feed the baby.

It looks like new drywall (where there isn’t any next to it) and yeah, the floor looks like it’s been mopped.

Didn’t the Laureans receive some money wired to them by his family? - did we ever learn the amounts?

He must have had help from one of his Marine buddies. The one who keyed Maria’s car and the other one who attacked her.

We’ll probably learn there’s a small blood-brother Macho sub=group in that unit. *All for one and one for all*.

Authorities said in the accompanying affidavit that Cesar Laurean and his wife received a transfer of money between December 10 and January 12.

That’s probably why she went back to work /sarc

I think it's code for the wall of an attached garage adjacent to the house be insulated and sheet rocked. The garage does extend out a bit past the house. In any event, the paint looks new.
