NEW ORLEANS -- With the 2007 football season complete, here's the game plan for 2008:
Jim Tressel's Ohio State team has lost back-to-back games for the BCS national championship.
We need border patrols along Interstate 10, from Jacksonville to Pensacola. A Coast Guard blockade at Biscayne Bay. And the FAA should redirect all inbound flights to South Florida from Ohio.
If you see a silver helmet and a sweater vest coming, contact authorities.
Because next year's BCS National Championship Game will be played in Miami, and the Ohio State Buckeyes aren't invited. Especially if the Southeastern Conference champion is invited.
If you've ever seen lions maul a water buffalo, you've seen the last two title games. You've seen a fierce pair of SEC teams -- Florida last year, LSU this year -- blow the vulnerable Buckeyes back to the Bratwurst Belt by a combined 41 points. You've seen the best of one league flex, and the best of an inferior league collapse

I so wanted UGA to play the Calif USC. It would have done my heart good to see GA smoke USC’s butts.
Then the SEC would have blistered all corners of the rest of the NCAA.
Heck, honey, I can’t talk - I went to Cal.
I’m starting to think the only way we’ll ever go to the Rose Bowl is to charter a bus and buy tickets....
Man, this Gator was rootin’ for dem coonasses!
maybe they will pre-season rank us like 50th so by the end of the year we can work up to a Hawaii type ranking. My goal is back to the Rose Bowl :-). Easier to beat up on the Pac-10 haha.
The loss to Stanford was a coaching problem, allowing your Quarterback to continue to play with a broken hand, and calling pass plays. As brilliant a Carroll is, he must have taken stupid pills that morning.
Then again I am a die hard University of Wisconsin-Badger fan and we couldn't win our bowl game ;-{
Exactly, the SEC and Big 12 have a competitive level that can’t be touched by the Big-10 or the Pac-10. The ACC is on its way up. But for now, the SEC owns college football.
No, the rule is to have Notre Dame if at all possible. Given their recent record, they have to settle for the best available midwest team.
Of course, Ohio State is the only northern team to have won a BCS championship. (4 SEC wins, 2 (former) Southwest Conference wins, 2 (current) ACC wins, 1 PAC 10, and Ohio State)
Or, to put it another way, Confederates 8, Yankees 2.
They are dead wrong. No matter what the record is for the Buckeyes next year, the BCS selection committee would have to have their collective heads examined to consider them for a title game slot. They're going to avoid them like the plague.
And yet these same backup QB's that were INCAPABLE of beating 41 point underdog Stanford AT HOME, are now being hyped as the very reason USC should be considered UNBEATABLE and ranked #1 to start next season.
They also lost the College Cup Championship to Wake Forest.
Maybe in theory. In reality, it's not simple at all because the Big Ten and the Pac-10 won't give up their Rose Bowl ties. And a playoff won't get off the ground without the Big Ten and the Pac-10.
So what's your argument to the Big Ten and the Pac-10 as to why they should abandon the Rose Bowl for a playoff system?
“It would have done my heart good to see GA smoke USCs butts.”
I hope your hearts fine since that, would never happen.
Georgia vs. USC would have produced a better game. Can’t have anything overshadow the BCS, can we?
If I remember correctly, there are 6 BCS conferences. I would like to see them require all the BCS conferences to have a conference championship the way the SEC and other conferences do. Then you can have the BCS conference champions along with 2 wild card teams and play an 8 team playoff. You would have a true champion and also have the opportunity for Cinderella team to win it.
You forgot, LSU lost to unranked Arkansas, in one of its losses.
No, it was a sign that they were finally healthy and hitting on all cylinders. With a healthy Hart and Henne in November, they'd have likely beaten both Wisconsin and Ohio State, and been playing LSU last night.
Yeah, how 'bout that whoopin' the Trojans put on Stanford? Wish the Trojans would have played my Dawgs 'cause I love to see them get "lubricated"!
