The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Thanks... I think I’ll make it to the feed store today unless we have another tornado. ;~)

Four chairs, all very heavy. The table is dark wood laminate on top, so nothing seriously fancy, but it’s in good shape. It’ll do, particularly with a table cloth. And the chairs are all wood. I could dress ‘em up a bit with cushions or stencils if I wanted to get really ambitious. Maybe I’ll get a picture when I get ‘em moved in. You’ll just have to forgive the linoleum if I do. ;-)

In which case you’ll be busy with the camera, huh?

I’m beginning to think your weather isn’t any better than ours and you might as well move down here and buy your cheap horse boarding facility!

This winter is getting a little monotonous, but I wouldn’t want to leave our summers! I’d wilt in yours.

I want to get some unfinished wood stools for the bar in the basement. I’m thinking of painting them black with bright red seats but I haven’t told Talon that part yet. Heh. The basement is all brown and green and I’d like something that really stands out.

We really ought to get some stools down there pronto, we’re hosting a brainstorming session for our anime convention next weekend and will probably have guests sleeping on the couches again...

Heh! You just watch...it’ll be in the low hundreds for you all this coming summer.

I’ll keep an eye out for appropriate real estate.

I’m glad I live in an area where we don’t have extreme weather...

It’s apparently a bad omen to say that. ;~)

I’d hate to leave here and miss the earthquake or the next volcano. I want to be here for that...

it’d take one helluva generator to run an electric furnace...

we have propane so it takes 400 watts surge to operate the igniter, then all it takes is 90 watts to run the fan...

winmag’s candles and portable propane heater are a viable option...

please, as winmag said, be careful with indoor combustion heat... it’s dangerous, and I’d advise corin, with his nightmare reality, to avoid it like the plague...

According to Algore the next global warming hurricane is supposed to move my house to 2J’s back yard. But it hasn’t happened yet.

We’ve been fortunate with the winter electricity losses. And now that Nana’s not living at home, we can survive for several days.

We’re more likely to lose electricity for extended periods in the summer. I think the most it’s ever been out in winter was 36 hours and we just went to work and school and bundled up at night.

When we can, we’re gonna get propane gas logs for the fireplace.

I finished a stool years ago, and it turned out really nice. I did it in a natural finish, though, with a stencil on top. I think it’s still at the house.

It wasn’t cheap though. It’d probably be less expensive (though far more time consuming) to pick up some used ones and refinish. I have two right now that I got for five dollars at a garage sale. Someday I’d like to do something with ‘em.

But the hallway will be the next major project.

Eek...late for work.

We’re making really slow progress on the kitchen, but progress it is. I’d hoped to get some more wallpaper stripped last night but I went home early with a headache and slept til six, so no go. Ugh. I hope I’m spared that today. They aren’t migraines but I’ve had a couple now where the side effects meant I couldn’t function. Woozy, dizzy... yesterday I thought I couldn’t see out of one eye (it was an illusion)

Stupid fragrances.
