The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I have decided...you...are...not...orcs...

No wait, wrong line.

I didn’t make New Year’s resolutions this year, but did resolve to focus on 1) health (if I don’t I won’t be able to walk in a year) and 2) writing.

This morning I decided that this is the year I get something published. Even if it’s the self publishing of a novel. I think I’ve narrowed it down to Nano2007 or Nano2005.

But that’s muh goal.

Good for you!

So step one would be finish the book, right?

I’m having similar thoughts about NaNo07 myself...

Yeah, if I go with that one. Later today I’m going to print out what I’ve got and start reworking the story line. Stylistically, that’s probably my best bet.

Hmm, maybe I will try hard to finish my story before Feb and then spend that month editing/rewriting. It would be good to finish it. I don’t even think there’s that much left.

Darn, where did I leave off?

Ya know...if you really want to attract buyers on Craigslist, perhaps it’s best *not* to use your pimp.hustler@hotmail account as your contact.

I am not making this up. See?

I at least plan to do the February attempt-to-finish deal. Dunno that I’m ready to publish yet. But I’d be interested in following along as you do it! Sounds like a worthy goal to me.

I left main guy stranded in a flood zone with the cops after him. So there’s that.

I actually was pretty near the final action scene and the closing. Shouldn’t take that many words to finish things off. The trip will be in the editing.

Hmm... actually I can write the scene and then edit it to work with what is there...

Well, I’m *finally* getting a table tonight, but it’s a different one, and it’s wayyyy out in the boonies. I’m upposed to go pick it up tonight after work.

I’m going to get lost. ‘Tis inevitable. But I suppose at least it’ll be a completely *new* area to get lost in. It’ll take me longer to feel like I’m helplessly going in circles. That’s a good thing, right?

I’m writing a lot of extra stuff, I’m sure, and I’ll yank out the unnecessary scenes when I’m editing.

Actually sitting down to write is the hardest part. I do a lot of *intending* to writing and thinking about writing and planning to write...lately not much actual writing.

You know, (because I think I said so), my New Year Resolution this year is to get caught up and be prepared. One of my goals for this year is to save up at least 3 months of income. I figure we can live on $1600 a month in an emergency so that's what? $4,800. I already have $1000 saved.

Also, I used to be far more prepared for disaster and emergency situations than I am now. By the grace of God, we weren't impacted as hard as some in the community by the recent ice storm. We would've been in trouble, just because of lack of heat. So I'm restoring a kerosene heater.

Then I got this today in my email from my Medical Reserve Corps. Perfect!

Well at least now you’ll have another flat surface to completely cover up with useless junk like all the rest of us! ;o)

But be careful going out in strange areas after dark. Are you going straight from work or are you going home first?

It’d probably be easier to go straight there. I’m mostly fretting about getting out on those back roads with folks behind me who know exactly where they’re going and don’t have patience for anyone who doesn’t. I *hate* that...

I also need to pretty near memorize the directions before setting out. Won’t be easy to keep checking ‘em in the dark!

I sure hope this thing fits in my van. I’ve measured, but...

I wish I had the house wired to accept a generator...just for the heat, you know?

I can manage without electricity for everything else...but we have to have heat.

Someday...
