it’d take one helluva generator to run an electric furnace...

we have propane so it takes 400 watts surge to operate the igniter, then all it takes is 90 watts to run the fan...

winmag’s candles and portable propane heater are a viable option...

please, as winmag said, be careful with indoor combustion heat... it’s dangerous, and I’d advise corin, with his nightmare reality, to avoid it like the plague...

We’ve been fortunate with the winter electricity losses. And now that Nana’s not living at home, we can survive for several days.

We’re more likely to lose electricity for extended periods in the summer. I think the most it’s ever been out in winter was 36 hours and we just went to work and school and bundled up at night.

When we can, we’re gonna get propane gas logs for the fireplace.
