The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Luke 24:1-12

Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.

And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?

He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

And they remembered his words, And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.

It was Mary Magdalene and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.

And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.

Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.

Happy Easter all!

We're off to church in a few. Choir is singing with the orchestra. Kid's choir and trash can band are also singing/playing. We're nothing if no ecclectic.

I'm picking up Nana. She says she's able to go. Have to admit I'm concerned about whether she can get in and out of thevan, 'cause my back has no business lifting her. But she says she's up for it.

The off to the in-laws for Easter brunch and egg hunting with the mini-terrorists.

Thanks! Good morning. Hope you all have a lovely Easter.

Ours is white. We got a solid layer of snow over night. Sure it is only a quarter inch but it is a white Easter.
How does anyone at all take Algore seriously?

Looks like we stayed dry last night so I’ll be able to get beds turned/tilled this week.

Morning - hmmm, no rain, no snow, no cloudy skies, well - no fire in the fire place. It was ready, though.

Some gardening would be nice about now, but it appears the good weather is during the week for the present.

Very nice adaptive use of the Maxpedition FR-1. We like it and will pick up a couple of them. Thanks for the tip and as always, a very informative posting.

You’re very correct on the former ammo supply of PDs in ‘70s. Six rounds in the revolver, twelve rounds in two six round dump pouches. Some, including me, carried an ammo wallet in the brief case. Twenty-four rounds in nice flat carrier.

Amen, alleluia! Happy Easter!

Pouring rain here, so I guess I’ll get to try out thenewlittlecar in those conditions for the first time today. I’m going to the 10:30 Mass and then up north...

I’m supposed to bring wine. Wonder what wine goes with lamb. Something red, I’d guess.

I’ve been told Merlot is boring and I’m not to bring that. ;-)

I’ll have to look and see what seems interesting, I guess!

Yeah, there was some movie a while ago that convinced people merlot was boring. I dunno, all I know is what I like and merlots are on the list. Not up there with Shiraz or Cab but they’re nice.

Yeah, this morning's Mass was only 1-1/2 hrs. ;o) The music was nice, and I didn't get too worn out from singing. I got up early enough so I was able to bake a cake, and get the ham and scalloped taters in the oven before I left for Mass, so we didn't have to wait too late afterwards to eat. We just finished with lunch, and Joseph is getting the trifle together. Paul and his girlfriend, Sarah, are coming over later, after they have lunch with her parents.

I think I might take a nap til they get here.

One article says those may be Canaan Dogs, which go back to the earliest days of Israel. They came from the desert, and were scattered back to the desert when the Romans exiled the Jews. The breed is considered a national treasure in Israel. Bedouins prize the dogs, but obviously city dwellers don't.

Full-grown dogs are much like German Shepherds in size and shape, but tend towards paler colors. Being herd dogs, they score high on IQ tests. It seems like Marines and Canaan Dogs are a natural for each other. I'm glad they were able to overcome all the red tape, and reunite men and dogs.
