The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I have a carbon monoxide detector...cost a fortune, but I went ahead and got one.

Our gas heater out in the shop is probably at least 70 years old. It truly is antique. When we’re working on the Beetle in the winter, I take it out there with us.

Our kerosene heater is probably from the 80s. Pretty new, actually. If we have to use it, we’ll just move the detector in there with us.

Oh, the CO detector is battery operated.

**Put batteries on the list!

MA codes now require CO detectors on every floor, and when we sell, we have to have installed smoke alarms in every bedroom, and they have to be hard wired. We have them now, in the hallways on each floor, and next to the furnace in the basement. No problem; SirKit can do that. He even considered installing a sprinkler system for in case of fire! I think I talked him out of that, though, for this house. He can do that for ours down South. ;o)

I’m glad you got the table back home and didn’t get lost or run over. So what does it look like? How many chairs did it come with?

Our kitties might have to go that route if I don’t get some cat food today. :~\
