The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

We had friends who went just after Christmas. They basically told their kids that “most of Christmas is the trip,” and just had small trip related gifts.

And, we've figured we can take care of Luke by saying "if we don't do the show we can spend Thanksgiving week at Disney World."

Tricksy, but likely vey effective!

The people across the side street me are elderly. Their yard is where the bus stops to pick up the neighborhood kids for school. You would not believe the mess.

Our trash guy picks up trash on Tues and Friday. When I take the trash out, I up the trash out of their yard.

Ugh, sounds like some places I’ve lived in, like Youngstown. I’m glad I don’t live in that h-llhole any more.

Heh heh! I personally would rather have a wrapping than an egging. Egg takes the paint off.

I think wrapped houses are funny. I’d probably stand out in the front yard and roar with laughter.

Alas, my poor oak tree isn’t much to wrap since the ice storm. Remember how pretty it was, right there by the garage?

LOL! I’ll take the fishwhacking! No, the characters weren’t necessarily likeable, but together, they were fun. The ‘Proust Scholar’ and the morose son were hilarious to watch amongst all the other dysfunctional family members.

Had a hiccup. Computer got hung up on loading, and I thought it hadn't gone through.

We had some friends who spent Christmas in DisneyWorld. They said it seemed as though half of Asia was there with them. ;o) But they loved it. Their youngest was in 4th grade at the time.

We've never had any desire to go to Disney or any other other large theme parks with the kids. they never expressed any desire to go, either. We went to Busch Gardens in Tampa a couple of years after we married, but didn't like the crowds, etc.

Heh...probably should have stopped at the “You’re not just gonna leave that there?” part. :-)

Christmas is pretty much the busiest time of the year. But at Thanksgiving, it’s busy but not the “worst.” Plus you get the benefit of the Christmas decorations.

We’re theme-park kind of people. Luke has been asking to go for about 3-4 years.

I have enough points on my Marriott Rewards to cover our hotel for a week (and a rental mini van or SUV to get us there). So we’ll just have to pay for tickets and food.

We have a change jar (bottle actually, it’s hugh) that we’re filling up. I think it will more than cover the tickets. So that leaves food.

I have a kidney up for auction on eBay.

Pack your own food? Or get a suite with a kitchenette and cook?

We’ll do some of that anyway. But we’d want to have Thanksgiving dinner out. My goal is just to put aside more money than we think it will actually cost.

It just goes with the whole experience. If you’re going to do it, you’ve got to expect to spend a fortune on food.

That just means it is slipping a bit. You can tighten it down really easy. There is usually a pulley that is in there just for that. If you picture like a cat’s cradle of string around your hands and someone pushes down on the top string. If your hands don’t move the tension on the string goes up. There is a pulley either in there to do just that. Or one of the things on the belt, like the alternator, can pivot a little. All it takes to tighten one is a wrench or socket set and one minute. What year model is your van?

We’re off! Matthew’s first day of Latin for this semester is today.

He made a 97% last semester. He had 534 points out of
551.

You could take an auto maintenance/repair class at the local community college.

Maybe meet a nice young mechanic. From a good Catholic family.

I’m just sayin’ is all...
