I’m waiting for icebergs to appear off the coast of Florida and then to have them bemoaning when those same icebergs start to melt in the Spring...

I once saw garbage trucks in Miami advertising “Free Snow Removal” (that, and “Weddings Catered”).

I wonder if they’ll be getting many calls on this.

Snowed in Miami in the late 70s.
See the link to 1989 photo by John Moran on the snowy banks of Suwanee River - beautiful (and not the Florida most folks know).

How's this for ridiculous, courtesy of the NWS?

Given the risk to south FL vegetation, a frost/freeze warning I can understand.  But, a wind chill warning?

The icing on the cake, though, is the Nanny State line at the end!  Gee, thanks Ma!

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MIAMI HAS ISSUED A WIND CHILL WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING TO 9 AM EST THURSDAY. THIS PRODUCT IS AN UPGRADE OF THE PREVIOUSLY ISSUED WIND CHILL ADVISORY.

MINIMUM TEMPERATURES ON THURSDAY MORNING ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM THE MID 20S TO THE LOWER 30S ACROSS THE WARNING AREA...WITH NORTHWEST WINDS IN THE 10 TO 15 MPH RANGE CONTINUING THROUGH THE NIGHT. THIS COMBINATION OF TEMPERATURE AND WIND WILL CREATE DANGEROUS WIND CHILL READINGS BETWEEN 15 AND 25 DEGREES FOR MUCH OF THE NIGHT. THUS...A WIND CHILL WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THE AREA.

A WIND CHILL WARNING MEANS THE COMBINATION OF VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL CREATE DANGEROUSLY LOW WIND CHILL VALUES. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA OR DEATH IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS....MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND GLOVES
