Men Shoot Themselves While Tracing Gun For Tattoo Design

CHAPARRAL, N.M. -- Two southern New Mexico men are recovering after accidentally shooting themselves while trying to trace a loaded .357-caliber Magnum as a pattern for a tattoo.

The Otero County Sheriff's Department identified the men as Robert Glasser and Joey Acosta. Both are 22.

The sheriff's department said deputies responded to the shooting in Chaparral on Thursday evening, but Glasser and Acosta were already on their way to a hospital in nearby El Paso, Texas.

Authorities say Glasser was struck in the hand when the gun accidentally went off. Acosta was hit in the left arm. The injuries were not life-threatening.

Was beer involved in the transaction somewhere?

If you read the other report, the neighbors did faintly hear a "Hey 'yall, hold ma beer & watch this!!"

Bad news for the gene pool.

The gun tracing was discovered...but, alas there were no traces of intelligence to be found.

the incredible, truly incredible part, is that unless i am mistaken the 357 is a revolver, meaning the gun would have to be cocked and loaded to accidentally go off.

that truly boggles the mind, since you can see the rounds in the chamber as the wheel rotates.

In other words, there’s something very fishy about the whole story.

I think it’s something about keeping the heat in. Eco-friendly homes do that, along with heating systems that draw heat from the earth underneath the home.

Most modern revolvers are double-action, meaning it can be fired just by pullinq the trigger. Single-action revolvers must be cocked first.

yeah but its not like an auto. when you pull the trigger, stuff moves and its a big pull. thats the amazing thing, you need to cock the gun to shoot it, and that is highly visible.

It is a wind speed indicator. During heavy thunderstorms they check if it is still there every so often and if it is they reckon they have time for another beer before the tornado hits! If it is not there they have another beer anyway reckoning it is the last one they will ever have.

3. Has anyone considered nominating these guys for a Darwin Awards Honorable Mention (honorable mentions are given to those who should be covered by the Darwin Awards but are still alive)?

Only if the shots resulted in rendering both of them incapable of fathering offspring....

(They did say one was shot in the hand....)

Home made tattoo?

Had to be. No established artist NEEDS to trace a gun and even if they did they would have photocopied it onto transferrable paper.
Seems stupid. A trace of a gun would look like the trace of the body in the above post. Not realistic at all. Just plain stupid.
