Patriots Fan Jumps From Overpass

Incident Shocks Onlookers At Gillette Stadium

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- As stunned bystanders watched, a Patriots fan on his way into Gillette Stadium for Sunday's game leapt off an overpass and fell 17 feet onto the pavement below.

"He thought he was going to land in a snow bank," said one witness to the incident.

NewsCenter 5's Todd Kazakiewich reported that the 20-year old man was on a pedestrian walkway heading towards the stores at Patriot Place about 3:15 p.m.

"All of a sudden he jumped. He was screaming on the way down, then he was silent," said another witness.

The man bounced off the pavement below.

"He was unconscious and unresponsive," said Scott Rogers of Foxborough Fire and Rescue.

A medical helicopter landed on the Patriots' practice field and flew the man to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Officials there said he was in serious condition.

Police are investigating whether alchohol was involved.

"He definitely had something to drink. I think he had a great deal to drink," said a man who witnessed the incident.

“The man bounced off the pavement below. “

Sounds like a wide receiver going for an Eli Manning pass.

I’m sure we’ll soon find out that alcohol was involved.

Police are investigating whether alchohol was involved.

Is that even necessary?

You don’t have to climb Mount Everest in order to enter “the death zone”!

Even if he was foolish...I hope the guy is getting enough painkillers
and gets well soon.

I’m just relieved somebody didn’t rush to get in under him to
“catch his fall”.
A decade or so ago, a security guard did that for a lady that jumped
from the top of a multi-story parking garage in the Los Angeles area.
She still died, but the security guard ended up so bodily-wrecked that he
was a total invalid.

Well I know the Patriots haven't exactly been blowing teams out lately but it's nothing to get depressed about. After all, they are still 15-0.

I just don't understand how people get so wrapped up in sports. A friend of mine got into a domestic argument yesterday after Brady threw his second interception in the second half of yesterday's 28-7 Pats victory. He stalked out of the room, slammed the bedroom door and broke into tears. Then at dinner, he screamed at his wife and threw his plate of food on the floor and stalked back up to the bedroom.

His entire day was evidently ruined because the Pats didn't win the game by 56-3.

Kerry’s favorite Patriots player is Randy Brady.

I witnessed a kid jump 20 feet out of a tree into a 2-foot deep cement-bottomed lake on campus....he was drunk, of course.

Sometimes I wonder if the thousands of dollars some parents pay to put their kids through college is really worth it....

Pssh...What an amateur. A Chicago Bears fan can jump 30 feet out of his seating section, into the end zone tunnel, land on the ground unharmed, all the while catching a ball kicked through the uprights!!!

Ironic that Kerry would support a team with the name "Patriots".

Just an observation.
