(CNN) -- The announced pregnancy of Jamie Lynn Spears -- the 16-year-old children's television star and younger sister of beleaguered pop star Britney Spears -- is casting new light on how states deal with the thorny issue of consensual sex among teens.
Spears, the star of Nickelodeon's "Zoey 101," told OK! Magazine that she's pregnant and that the father is her 18-year-old boyfriend.
There has been no public talk of criminal prosecution in the case. Consensual sex between the two may well have been legal, depending on where and when it took place.

Jamie Lynn plans to raise the baby in her home state of Louisiana "so it can have a normal family life." That ain't going to be easy.

The Spears sisters are not too bright. They don’t use birth control and Britany should have chauffer.

under the 5th Amendment?

I guess Mr. and Mrs. Spears will be putting a hold on that new parenting book they were looking to have published.
To: Pinkbell
At least it doesn't seem that there is intent to abort the baby.
But still, just one more case of why the United States' current lax attitude toward extramarital relations are bad. Parents being immature brats, the murder of unborn children, the spread of diseases, etc.

I didn’t see it. It won’t let me put in keyword Jamie Lynn Spears. I searched for her name and also under Britney Spears. I did not see it. If I had seen a thread, I would not have posted.

I agree with you 100%. I saw liberals who are big advocates of free sex and comprehensive sex ed as opposed to abstinence sex ed bad mouthing her for getting pregnant, especially so young. I thought, well, you guys promote this stuff all the time. Why are you surprised when it happens? I saw a liberal comment after the article was posted on a different site that the responsible thing would be to get an abortion. That’s reprehensible. I give her credit for keeping and raising the baby.

“That ain’t going to be easy.”
Because she’s so young, or because she’ll be in Louisiana? ;)
