amazing...
Once the fronts start coming all the way to the Gulf it is extremely unlikely that a hurricane will come ashore here.
Well ain’t that just special!
This was my favorite. For us in Central FL it was just like a hurricane. Unusual part was the biting cold that came with it. Plenty of wind damage though.
=====================
Besides producing record low barometric pressure across a swath of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic states, and one of the nation's biggest snowstorms, the low produced a potent squall line ahead of its cold front. The squall line produced a serial derecho as it moved into Florida and Cuba around midnight on March 13. Straight-line winds gusted above 100 mph/85 kts (160 km/h) at many locations in Florida as the squall line moved through.
I've had the AC (back) on for about a week now, I'm not suprised at this storm.
Is Gore correct?

SPECIAL TROPICAL DISTURBANCE STATEMENT
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
1100 AM EST MON DEC 10 2007
SATELLITE IMAGES AND SURFACE REPORTS INDICATE THAT A CLOSED SURFACE
CIRCULATION HAS DEVELOPED IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE BROAD AREA OF LOW
PRESSURE NOW CENTERED ABOUT 200 MILES EAST OF PUERTO RICO. SHOWER
ACTIVITY WITH THE LOW REMAINS DISORGANIZED...HOWEVER...WITH THE
STRONGEST THUNDERSTORMS LOCATED A COUPLE HUNDRED MILES NORTH AND
NORTHEAST OF THE CENTER. WHILE A TROPICAL OR SUBTROPICAL CYCLONE
COULD STILL FORM DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS...UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE
EXPECTED TO BECOME GRADUALLY LESS FAVORABLE FOR DEVELOPMENT OVER
THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE LOW DEVELOPS
FURTHER...IT COULD PRODUCE HEAVY SQUALLS AND GUSTY WINDS OF NEAR
GALE FORCE ACROSS THE VIRGIN ISLANDS AND PUERTO RICO LATER TODAY
AND TONIGHT AS IT MOVES WESTWARD OR WEST-SOUTHWESTWARD AT ABOUT 20
MPH. HEAVY RAINS OVER PUERTO RICO AND HISPANIOLA COULD CAUSE
LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODS AND MUD SLIDES...AND INTERESTS IN
THESE AREAS SHOULD CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS SYSTEM.
FURTHER SPECIAL TROPICAL DISTURBANCE STATEMENTS WILL BE ISSUED AS
NECESSARY. FOR INFORMATION SPECIFIC TO YOUR AREA...CONSULT
STATEMENTS ISSUED BY YOUR LOCAL WEATHER OFFICE.

FORECASTER FRANKLIN
Yeah, that one was “The Storm of the Century”. My place was nearly hit by a small tornado, put us into an interior closet. I remember folks in the mountains near Chattanooga being surprised by more than a foot of snow.
Looks like a reverse Lenny of 1999.
Well, I’ve already got my chocolate (just in case!)
Thanks, now I can go on planning my Christmas! ;)

Since this should be the last of the “season” and I’ll probably won’t hear from you until next, here’s thanks for your work on the hurricane threads and blessings for the Holy Days ahead and best wishes for a great 2008.
God Bless,

Well, Dang.
About 2 months ago I said we’d never make it to Olga.
Still say they cheated to get to the “O”s.
