Four Ravens fined for improper conduct relating to officials
National Football League
Four Baltimore Ravens players have been fined for violating league rules prohibiting the abuse of game officials, the NFL announced Friday.
Bart Scott was fined $25,000 for verbally abusing game officials and throwing an officials flag into the stands during last Monday nights Baltimore-New England game
Samari Rolle, Chris McAlister, and Derrick Mason were fined $15,000 each for publicly questioning the integrity of the officiating in last Monday nights game.
This is about the importance of sportsmanship and respecting the integrity of our game, said NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Ray Anderson. We do not tolerate inappropriate conduct between teams and game officials. This includes reminding game officials that they are to conduct themselves at all times as professionals in their dealings with players, coaches, and other club personnel.
Anderson went to Baltimore this week to speak directly with Scott and Rolle before issuing the fines Friday.
Last Monday nights game was well officiated, Anderson said, and it is the obligation of both players and coaches to maintain proper respect for game officials at all times.
In addition to prohibiting physical contact with game officials, league rules also bar team personnel from verbal or other non-physical abuse of officials and from public criticism of their integrity.
Awesome! Ravens are such losers. Totally out of control.
No surprise here, I told my wife while I was watching that there would be a bunch of fines by Friday against various Raven players.
I’m surprised TJ housyourmomma of my Bengals didn’t get fined for his antics last Sunday as well.
Quoth their spokesman...”Nevermore!”
Still, that was the funniest thing I've seen all season.
Part of the reason why they’re 4-8.
There’s still time for him to get fined as well.
While thats true in theory, MPF, nobody bothers to watch the Bengals now, not even the commissioners office I suspect.
Why bother?
The Ravens are a notorious bunch of urban thugs who would rather play their gangsta games than football. Hence their lousy record and reputation. They are an embarassment to Baltimore.
Perhaps T.J. gets a break because he plays for the Bengals. The league may figure that fact alone is punishment enough.
(chuckle)
Yep.
Now, whats the league going to do for those of us forced to endure another Bengals season of ineptness?
Mandate that Bengal ticket prices decrease by 5% every year until they make the post season?
Leave them alone, they’re only boys.
I must have been watching a DIFFERENT Monday Night Football game, then....
The officials did everything they could to assure New England would get their "un-defeated" season.....
Tell us in clear detail with specific instances how your statement is true.
If you watched the game at all, you would not have missed the flagrant disregard of the play.
Actually, I thought the officiating was adequate, and the Ravens caused their own downfall with their typically undisciplined gangsta thug play. I will, however, say that the 15-yard penalty called at the end of the game on the Ravens because some fans threw beer was excessive.
