More music for Led Zeppelin after reunion?

LONDON, England (AP) -- Will Led Zeppelin's long-awaited reunion lead to more concerts?

Guitarist Jimmy Page, singer Robert Plant and bass player John Paul Jones will perform Monday at London's 02 Arena, a benefit tribute to Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegun, who died last year.

It will be the rock band's first concert in almost two decades.

"I must say that after our initial get-together it was so exhilarating and fun that I did feel I would like to do more," Q music magazine quoted Page, 63, as saying.

"I've got things I've been working on for the past four years that I'm proud of," he says. "Some of the songs I've got ready are as good as anything I've done in the past. I wouldn't necessarily save them for my solo career."

"Some of the songs I've got ready are as good as anything I've done in the past."- Page

Quite a bold statement. We'll see.

One of the gifts requested for Christmas by my daughter was a Led Zeppelin CD.

You ought to give her Dread Zeppelin. It's a reggae record of LZ hits sung by an Elvis impersonator.

Which CD did you buy her? My first Zep record was Physical Graffiti, bought new in '75. Saw 'em live a couple years later, and saw Page one more time at "The Arms Concert" in '83 (Ronnie Lane's benefit for multiple sclerosis starring Page, Clapton, Beck, Cocker, and Winwood). Hard to imagine a quarter century has passed...

Can Plant still carry a tune? No doubt Page will still be fairly good, but I really, really doubt they could be like they were at their peak.

The Song Remains the Same - Page smashing the violin bow against the strings...

I remember them broadcasting live from Madison Square garden New Years eve, like ‘71 or so. Truly astounding stuff. The rock stuff back then was almost like classical music, a lot of interweaving melodies. Floyd, Yes, King Crimson.

A few years from now, people will be getting their doctorates in Music writing about these guys.
Maybe they already are.

Thanks for that link, I never saw it before.

Lot of folks badmouth Page, but every live piece I’ve ever seen, the guy has these bursts of rapid fire playing that I can’t even count the notes, he’s playing so fast.

Zepp was some serious, heart pounding rock.
But hey, now we got Feist!
I still highly recommend this one, though.

THE LOUDER THE BETTER!!!!

I went to this Zepplin concert in the Filmore West (San Francisco) in 1969. Still the best concert I ever went to.

Really, she’s not a bad vocalist. And her composition is strong.

But she’s weak on the choreography. And seriously needs some backup musicians to highlight her. Who knows, maybe if she had Dave Stewart behind her, she’d be another Annie Lennox.

But I doubt it. I was just makin fun, cause she’s so cotton candyish. When I hear women vocalists, I like to get a bit turned on. And I don’t mean ready to go to Chuckee Cheese.

Try this:

I saw them in Chicago summer of 69 Kinetic Playground with that inverted hatbox of projection above. Very intense, very satisfying. They live on but not all zeppelins are created equal.
