No sure if this has started to become a popular topic for posting yet...I thought Freepers might be interested in knowing that today I walked past the windows of S5A in NYC on fifth avenue. The decorating of these windows is an age-old tradition and one that draws huge crowds of tourists. Well, I am not sure if this is the first year but there is basicaly no reference to Christmas at all in the windows. Out of ten or so windows that I quickly walked by there was one grudgingly placed Christmas tree in a corner, period. The rest was only secular symbols of snowmen and "winter people". Not even a single Santa Claus!!!!!!!!!
I thought about saying something to a manager. Then I realized our collective voice would be much louder. Merry Christmas!
Good thing you didn’t say anything. You might have been arrested for offending someone. /s
Irony is using Xmas in the title of this whine.
What’s wrong with not having Santa? He’s a commercial symbol not a Christian symbol, and anyway they probably have a live “Santa” in the store.

I understand exactly what you are saying. I personally will not shop at places that deny Christmas. However, I also realize that Christmas is about Jesus and try not to get to caught up in the commercialization aspect.
This morning I went to Lord & Taylor where they have the most beautiful Christmas window display! Each one reads, “The Sights...Sounds...Flavors, etc. of Christmas” represented by old-fashioned scenes. The store is also very festively decorated—it put me in quite the Christmas mood! I made a point of complimenting the lady greeter on their Christmas spirit saying I would be returning soon for my shopping.
