Yup, just like the towers, it’s all part of the “master plan”.

I don’t think the collapse was staged. They would never have given up their empire if they could have helped it. But I think that when they saw that it was inevitable, the Nomenklatura did what they could to preserve their power.

The NKVD/KGB/YouNameIt is still in charge of the country. And it’s clear that Putin still has imperial ambitions.

It has morphed from a Communist system of complete control to a Russian Mafia system for complete control.

They might conceivably go back to Communism at some point, because although it seemed to be discredited there are still a LOT of Communist theorists around, and it still has appeal to a lot of people. Or maybe they’ll invent some other kind of veneer to cover up what Communism was always about, anyway—power for the Nomenklatura and opium for the masses.

Funny how the libs keep trying to re-write history. (Communists and Liberals play on the same team)

The only reason they have not yet succeeded in flushing the real reasons for the end of the Cold War down the memory hole is that too many of us are still alive who lived through it and remember it.

Here is a good example: I went to a movie last night, and one of the previews was for “Charlie Wilson’s War”. I saw the book, but never read it. This preview was laced with small interview tidbits with the actors starring in it, Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and so on. I like Tom Hanks, even though he is a raging lefty...he mostly keeps it to himself. In one of the interviews, Tom Hanks talks about how this guy Charlie Wilson was a real patriot who won the Cold War singlehandedly, and how there was no hypocrisy in his actions and deeds, etc.. Julia Roberts gushed over this guy, you get the idea.

Already, I think: “Hmm...Julia Roberts...Lefty...Tom Hanks...Lefty...these people would never do anything like this for someone like Oliver North, who was a genuine patriot...”

Then the preview tells you the screenplay was done by Aaron Sorkin...and that will tell you all you need to know about this.

They are relentless in their efforts to rewrite history, twist the language to suit their needs, and lie cheat and steal to gain power.

Evidence of a long range Soviet strategy of controlled democratization and fake collapse for the purpose of disarming the West also appears in the writings of the high level Czech defector Jan Sejna. In his 1982 book, We Will Bury You, Sejna wrote of a plan to “convince the Capitalist countries that they had no need of military alliances.” He added that, “To this end we envisaged that it might be necessary to dissolve the Warsaw Pact, in which event we had already prepared a web of bilateral defence arrangements, to be supervised by secret committees of Comecon.”

Looks like those nasty Jihadist screwed up their plans.

Well, the book was written in 1984 and it did claim what would happen. So either it’s real or the guy had an amazing talent for predicting the future. When you see Putie and his henchmen in control and they were all former KGB (even the Russian mob), and Russia is started to “backslide”, it does make you wonder.

” claimed that the Soviet Union had a secret long-term strategy to disarm and defeat the United States”

The left’s hate for Reagan never ceases.

People don’t beleive it when I state that the hate for Reagan was much more intense than what we see against Bush today.

Viva La Reagan...

There have been at least two serious defectors assert such.

And, there are several other source threads asserting essentially the same thing.

Certainly the world military powers have been cooperating at least since . . . when 1954 or 1964 on the UFO stuff. I believe 1954 is accurate.

Lots of things are not as they seem.

And FREEPERS OF ALL PEOPLE

SHOULD KNOW

that VIRTUALLY NOTHING THE MSM asserts is as the MSM asserts it.

So, why on earth is it so difficult to see such HIDDEN IN PLAIN sight stuff by FREEPERS! Sheesh.

This is old hat, really.

The globalist puppet masters have been at it a very long time.

DERISIVE DENIAL is NOT a good survival trait!

If one were going to write an alternative USSR history I would base it on oil prices. So many commodity prices from nickle to zinc to copper follow oil. And this is much of Russia’s wealth.

In 1980 oil was $37 a barrel ($94 adjusted for inflation).

By it dropped to $14 ($27 adjusted) and with revenue by 2/3 the Soviet Union collapsed.

When President Bush43 was elected oil was $27 ($33 adjusted)
Now oil is $100 a barrel and Russia is strong again.

Sadly, something we may have to do - go to war with Iran will strengthen Russia even more.

I'm inclined to believe this one. We did not really defeat the forces of tyranny in Russia. Rather they shed some overly costly colonies in Eastern Europe, and pulled a nice Jedi mind trick on us.

The Art of War (Sun Tzu):

Therefore One hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the most skillful. Seizing the enemy without fighting is the most skillful.
It's freedom versus tyranny. Tyranny comes in several flavors, including Communist Russia and China, Islamo-Fascism, and the Leftist Liberals that infiltrate most of our schools, governments, media, international organizations (U.N., World Bank, ...) and special interest groups (labor, environmentalists, feminists, civil rights, ...). They share a common enemy - us.

The power of Russia is rising again, as raw materials such as oil and minerals, as well as the weapons of war, rise in value. And that power clearly remains on the side of tyranny.

China already holds a big chunk of our Treasury Notes.

The Islamo-Fascists hold much of our oil supply, receiving trillions of dollars from us for it, which they use to fund Islamic tyranny on every country in the world. With their allies in the environmental movement, the Russians and Islamo-Fascists have insured that we don't drill for much oil in free lands.

Yes - Iraq is in part about oil. Not about us stealing the oil, but about us keeping the forces of tyranny from stealing it. And it is about fighting Islamo-Fascists there instead of here, and about surrounding and containing Iran, so that they neither wipe out Israel, nor invade and conquer Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, the key source of the oil that is the essential fuel of our economic engine.

But our biggest battle is right here at home, with the Left. The Left won two Presidential elections by supporting Perot as a third party candidate, and they are well along toward winning two more by supporting RINO's such as McCain, and when he fell behind, Giuliani, who will dampen the enthusiasm of the conservative base, which is critical to holding majorities in the House and Senate, as well as gaining the White House.

If we loose further ground to the Left here at home, then we cannot stand up to the forces of tyranny abroad. If we grow stronger at home, including gaining greater energy independence (that means domestic drilling, coal and nuclear, not windmills or solar panels or destroying our industrial base) then none can defeat us abroad.

The Golitsyn-Angleton story fascinates me. (Along with Nosenko, the other CIA defector.)

Who knows what the truth is?

Golitsyn also said that Prime Minister Harold Wilson in the UK and Prime Minister Lester Pearson in Canada were KGB.

actually, it doesn't make *that* much difference if it was staged or not, nor should it if our Pentagon planners are competent (*gulp*)

imagine a long distance marathon that is fairly evenly matched (think USSR in the 1970's was ahead in many ways), now think of what happens when one of the runners "drops out of the race".

as long as the remaining runner doesn't stop running (even if he slows down), he should still win.

check how much the US spend on its military after the fall of the USSR to figure out how much danger we are in, and check the amount the ex-USSR spent.

the US is in pretty good shape militarily right now.

what happens in another two to six years is another matter of course...

Gen. Chi Haotian of China’s Communist Party Central Military Commission, who said in 1999: “War [with American imperialism] is inevitable. We cannot avoid it.” He also explained, “We must be prepared to fight for one year, two years, or even longer.”

I side with those who scoff at this idea, but in a sense it’s not important whether or not this assertion is true.

What’s important is that we successfully counter the anti-American and anti-West policies of Putin.

It doesn’t much matter if those policies are part of a long-range commie plot or part of a new Russian-mafia surge for power and control.

What matters is that our response is coherent and based on rational long-term goals.

That means, among other things, continuing our buildup of an anti-missle system, its deployment in Eastern Europe and (hopefully) doing something to get our country on-track towards energy independence (through drilling domestic oil and building nuclear power plants).

Whether or not Putin is a new-style enemy of America or an old-style one, isn’t all that important.
