His name was Josh Evans. He was 16 years old. And he was hot.
"Mom! Mom! Mom! Look at him!" Tina Meier recalls her daughter saying.
Josh had contacted Megan Meier through her MySpace page and wanted to be added as a friend.Yes, he's cute, Tina Meier told her daughter. "Do you know who he is?"

Sick. Someone needs to pay.
Welcome to Human Depravity. Cruel is the word. It makes them feel important. I can see this happening to the friends of my daughter. I can see my son’s friends doing this type of hoax.
What am I saying? My son would probably do something cruel like this. I’m going home and make him read this.
In before the ban myspace crowd.
MySpace was 1/100th the size when it was 18+ only...
I avoid MySpace like the plague, nothing but bored kiddies on there.
But, as you may notice via Dateline, it’s when they show up to do something about it that they’re prosecuted (i.e., intent to commit the act of abuse).
Those are some f*** up, SOBs. Poor kid, poor family.
C'mon, no time for that. Too busy. Drop the orphans off at the kiddie kennel. Chase the almighty dollar. More money means a better life for ... the children. (Yeah, that's it, for the children.)
A bigger pie means we all get a bigger slice. Happiness is a house full of stuff.
True. But, the kind of manipulation that happened here is the same tactic used by pedophiles. Regardless of whether anything would be ‘result’, the crime here is what the adult did to the child. This is extreme child mental abuse from malevolent adults.
It's not OK and she's not fine. And consider this. I remember kids for whom every day of junior high was like this. It's surprising that the teen suicide rate isn't higher than it is.
I can (sort of) see kids doing this. It's wrong, and their parents need to make sure they don't do it ... but it is childish behaviour.
Supposed adults hoaxing a teenager like this is beyond despicable. What was that about 'giving scandal to children' and millstones?
What this father did to this foosball table I would have done to these adults.... Unbelievable.
This story is incredibly tragic and disturbing. It would have been bad enough if kids had done this - but adults??
It’s too bad that the adults who created the fake page and tormented the girl aren’t going to be charged. It seems to me that criminally negligent homicide (or involuntary manslaughter) would be an appropriate and provable charge. And I wish the parents would go after the other family in civil court too.
God allmighty.
I’d have lost my mind, and burnt the other families house to the ground...just for starters.
And I would have been standing there as they tried to escape the flames.
And then I’d have gone to jail, a broken man.
What this family did is unbelievable.
He’s 11. I call it “The Stupid Age”. He’s really smart but he (and his friends) do stupid stuff. Luckily, he has no use for girls.
If these fiends did this to a daughter of mine, their entire family would wake up surrounded by flames.
Eleven years old, and smart but stupid? Sounds familiar ... ;’}
Rest in Peace, Tina.
I agree. I got the gist of it, but it was very hard to follow. Drama Queen journalist trying to milk a tragedy into a compelling little soap opera for the readers. Bleah!
I quite agree. Their doors and windows would be mysteriously nailed shut too.
Even if the girl hadn't killed herself, what these so-called adults did was evil, evil, evil.
One other thing caught my eye: The way Megan spelled out the last letter of her name..."N is for Neglected."
This got me to start reading between the reporter's lines: Here is a Modern Mom who is out being a real-estate agent, always rushing about; who doesn't have time to spend with her overweight depressed daughter -- who allegedly had ADD?
Now don't get me wrong -- I don't for one minute blame the mom for her daughter's suicide. If anyone's the proximate cause, it's those evil neighbors.
But I have to wonder if the girl was diagnosed with ADD because medicating her was the "busy" parents' way to deal with her problems.
And if the build-up of ADD medication in her system had something to do with her suicide.
And whether, if the mom had decided to be a full-time mom, the girl wouldn't have felt "neglected" -- and pushed into the arms of phantom strangers.
This is an angle the liberal media never dare pursue, just as they never pursued the evidence that Dylan Klebold's problems began in daycare.
