I think Gabriel has a major task to do down here...

I have friends who, when expecting, were told their baby had no brain and they were strongly urged to abort.

They chose to leave it in God's hands - Their daughter just graduated cum laude ...

How many wonderful, healthy babies have been aborted upon doctors advice

"How many wonderful, healthy babies have been aborted upon doctors advice."

Too true, sadly. It just goes to show once again that doctors are not God, nor can they predict what is only in God's ultimate control.

I concur with other comments on this thread that the "compassionate" language used to persuade this woman to let the doctors kill one of her babies is truly horrifying. It just goes to show that with the right language and framework of mind, one can justify most anything.

I pray that this story will stand as great warning to any mother reading it if she should ever face the awful urging of a doctor to let him kill her baby because it is the "kind" thing to do.

SHUDDER

Agreed. And I found the story chilling, not heartwarming except for the end. The Orwellian language is mortifying.

It does no good to hide from LIFE! Gabriel is indeed an angel, destined for something great! By his shear will, he has proved more in his infancy than all the adults in this article put together.

Good grief!!!!! Geez, I hope the kid never finds out what his parents tried to do to him. How do you explain that exactly?

Something happened to the thread, so I can’t reply directly to those who mentioned Twin Transfusion Syndrome. That was my first thought as to what saved the life of this little fellow. I have 23 year old identical twin sons, who were born only 2 weeks early, but had TTS. Their placenta was one, giant and intertwined. One was born 2 pounds lighter than the other (5 lbs 11 oz, and 7 lbs. 11 oz), but for some reason, which we still do not understand (a miracle from God is the only explanation) it was the smaller boy who supplied the blood for the larger- the opposite of “normal” TTS. The smaller one didn’t stop producing red blood cells at birth and was transfused with plasma to thin his blood out. He was in the hospital for a week, and was sent home with the doctors kind of shrugging and saying that we’d just have to wait and see what happens. Not a lot was known back in “the day” and in most cases, one twin did not survive, and often both didn’t. Like I said, these guys were a miracle, and they still are (especially in Mom’s eyes...) a true blessing. I agree with the poster who said that this survivor is here for a purpose, and God made sure that no scalpel or scissors were going to interfere with it! Praise God, and may their Mom know how very blessed she is!!!
