Bad Box Office? Blame 'Halo'

The joystick has brought Ben Stiller nothing but sorrow.

Industry expectations for "The Heartbreak Kid," the date movie that re-teamed him with the Farrelly brothers (the duo who made him a megastar in "There's Something About Mary"), called for a $20 million to $25 million opening for the film. Instead, "Kid," which cost north of $60 million to make, managed only $14 million in the U.S. and Canada -- heartbreaking, indeed.

Look on the Bright side. At least they are not Blaming Bush...................................Yet.

But then again Video games have become more advanced. I dare say there storylines are much better than all the crap Hollywood is puttin out lately (I have a few of them). BUt that is my opinion.

It’s got a lot more to do with the fact that the movie sucks and it didn’t advertise well. The new Tyler Perry movie once again came out of nowhere and made over 20 mil on opening weekend. Overall it’s looking weak October, but it was looking to be a weak October anyway, this year’s pickings were pretty slim, but Hollywood is still going to beat last year’s numbers.

I saw the previews of The Heartbreak Kid and I wanted to go see a movie, but it never occured to me to go see that movie. Some movies are just obvious stinkers, Halo 3 or no Halo 3.

The Neil Simon Heartbreak Kid - 1972 was Reprised by

The Heartbreak Kid 1993 - outta Australia which was

re=reprised by The Hearbreak Kid 2007.

What was so special about the current version. We old farts enjoyed the original so we wait for it to come out on DVD which in this case may be by Valentines Day!

I happened to catch Oprah’s promo for her show “why did I get married” and tuned in to watch. The movie’s storyline caught my interest so now I’m interested in going to see it.
Not too many good movies out there. It was months since we had been to the movies, and finally went Saturday to see “kingdom”.

I haven’t seen any of this guys movies, I just no he seems to pop out of no where with very little publicity and have $20 million opening weekends, which is really good money given his budget, and usually means they’re good movies. There hasn’t been much lately I’m in the mood for, plenty of strong looking action suspense but I’m not in an action suspense mood, I think the next movie on my list is American Gangster, of course I’m a sucker for mob movies and for Ridley Scott.

My son is still shopping for the XBox he wants- can’t get them (360 Elite) here in Colorado. I haven’t yet played HALO 3. I mostly play with my son on multiplayer. I can beat him 1 game out of 5, pretty good for an old guy he says.

A lot of it has to do with the fact the Farrelly Bros. haven’t made a good movie in a while. That’s the thing about Hollywood; one good one and you’re in for a lifetime.

The movie blew, and was not very good the first time around either (Stiller in Cabo versus Charles Grodin in Miami Beach).
