Where is the bathroom? LOL, but when you get back (in Arabic) "Down the hall, turn left, go up a flight of stairs to the landing, turn right 180 degrees and go 30 meters", what are you going to do? *\;-)

Im sure youll do just fine. If Egypt is anything like Pak, English is all over the place, and taught in schools. I'm sure it will. It's more out of respect/courtesy to our hosts; I won't have enough to accomplish anything.
I've done fine elsewhere (Korea, China, Denmark, Norway, England, Canada, eh? *\;-) with less.

I am now officially in my annual anti-holiday Snit! Same here -- heard something about a Christmas tree today. (Unfamiliar song, but...)

We were at Wal-mart a couple of days ago, and the Christmas stock was being shelved, but the music wasn’t on yet. The health-food store had the aisles blocked with bulk Christmas candy yesterday.

I learned how to say “Please” and “Thank you” in Urdu, and it seemed to bring big smiles. It may not have been perfect, but I could tell the effort was worth it.

Today is November 4. The towns are putting up their “holiday” day-cor this weekend, although they won’t hold the Lighting until after Veterans’ Day.
Hemby Bridge had their big “Peace on Earth” sign up, but only the southern half of the earth!

Sebeka Pinotage is the spirit du jour, and I will be opening it as soon as the byos are in bed.

Make dramatic, confused gestures and hope the person will conduct me to the appropriate door.Does that mean you'll be doing the "Pee-pee Dance" in front of total strangers? (Perish the thought!)

LOL!
I had a supervisor who was the only adult I ever saw who literally did the “Pee-pee Dance.” If she was on a complex call that she really didn’t want to take, and it was past time for her to head down the hall, she would do that dance sitting in her chair.
Finally, one day, I said, “Cherie. Take their name and number and call them back!”

The first lesson taught the two most important phrases. I'm sure you can guess what they are: The Four Phrases essential to travel.
"Where is the restroom?"
"I'll have a cheese sandwich and a soda in a unopened bottle(can)."
"Which way to the International Airport?"
"Pardon me sir, but your donkey is standing on my foot."

Also a very useful phrase! But sadly there are some benighted places where they don't have good beer... like france.
You would think they would keep some around for when the Germans pop over for a visit.
