It is possible for a child to have lighter hair than the parents. My parents and brother have dark hair, dark eyes. I was born with blondish hair, blue eyes. But I am definitely their biological child. It’s funny that this story just turned out differently.
My husband and I have a child who looks nothing like either of us. Everyone says so, usually right after they comment on what a good-looking kid he is. (I guess they’re trying to say neither of us is good-looking...lol.) We couldn’t figure out who he resembled. Then, when my father passed away, I came across old photos of him when he was a kid, and I realized he is almost the spitting image of my dad.
My family is heavy on light eyed blonde kids, but every so often, a little Cherokee comes along. We are all identified by a major family trait, a roaring bad attitude!
Most of my boys look exactly like my husband, while my daughter looks just like me. We have one boy who looks a little different than the other boys. I hate the comment, “He looks different than your other kids.” Goodness gracious! The boy actually looks more like my family than his dad’s (he looks my dad did when he was little, except his hair is light and not dark). Who would have thought that one of our boys might actually *gasp* take after his mother. The only other comment that was more annoying was how my children don’t all have the same eye color. People seem to find it difficult to believe that all five of my children share one father. Just weird, I know. /sarc
Little comfort to your husband though.
