CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - In an unlikely marriage of desire to secede from the United States, two advocacy groups from opposite political traditions New England and the South are sitting down to talk.
Tired of foreign wars and what they consider right-wing courts, the Middlebury Institute wants liberal states like Vermont to be able to secede peacefully.

actually this is what the European Elites want to do to “curtail the excessive power of the USA”.
(see also that old “Amerika” miniseris)
They want to break up the USA into managable blocks.
The left calls this a conference, Americans call this treason.
“how many would run like hell when they found out just what the cost of their freedom really is?”
You mean the next batch of illegal aliens will be Vermonters?
Forget secession, that doesn’t seem to work (it’s bloody and messy, costs thousands of lives, uniforms, bullets the whole thing is ugly). Let’s try expulsion from the union, 49 states voting to throw VT out! That will work ! Much cleaner.
If I lived in New England Id already have a restraining order against VT in the works, and Id be busy be throwing their crap out the window onto the front lawn.
Either that, or send in a crew of Blackwater contractors to clean things up and then rename the state New Myanmar.
" If the state doesn't fit, then you must make a split!"
I’ll take the side with the border security and the guns. Everything else should just fall into place.
just think ...all the homosexuals and the druggies would move there....
all the welfare queens.....
all the perverts as well.....
all the wimpy men ...
I say we all chip in to help them seceed....
I wanna be with them!
To paraphrase your previous post: “You disagree with me, therefore ur a big dummy.”
LOL, that’s deep, son.
So you haven’t noticed that the second biggest chunk of the internet (after pr0n, of course) is made up of websites which complain about how everyone is being oppressed by the US government?
Why would they go to vermont? As long as free programs remain, they need to be paid for. Vermont can no more support a welfare alone than Mexico can. The programs would continue here in the USA unless we cut the country to ribbons to get rid of the blue states. I think there are better ways.
An attempt to put this idea into action will result in the election of the nations second POTUS “Lincoln”.
Why would I notice that. I'm not the one reading their leftist bilge. You are, "sonny."
If you are so out of it that you don't know what happened on the floor of the Senate yesterday in regard to free speech, I can't help you.
I must have missed it, but then I have a life outside of the internet. Maybe you could, I dunno, provide a link to this earth-shaking news, since I don’t see it any live threads discussing it. :p
Well, THAT almost changes my mind about the whole thing. The question is, is there even a Lincoln LEFT in this country? Who knows? Too risky though, I'd rather keep our country's borders the way it is. We've got enough threats from the outside without worrrying about coming apart from the inside.
“We’ve got enough threats from the outside without worrrying about coming apart from the inside.”
Which is exactly why secession will be opposed - enlargement of what’s “outside” at the expense of THE NATION.
The last time I saw J. Michael Hill of this article was around the time of the Waco burning.
As President Jefferson said, if they choose to go let them go in peace. As it should have been the first time round
True
The programs would continue here in the USA unless we cut the country to ribbons to get rid of the blue states.
Maybe a little naive.
Do you really think it's only blue state representatives who support welfare and pork?
Get rid of the blue states and you'll see how quickly the red state representatives change their tune.
If everyone did this, they'd self-organize into groups that got along and thought alike. That's segretation and that's wrong. A more perfect union means that you have to be forced to live with people you are completely opposed to politically, largely because of where you happened to be born.
Yes, I am just being sarcastic. Secession is fine with me. I just figured I'd write that Orwellian BS because I'm sure someone will come along and earnestly express such beliefs.
