Fred Phelps Hate Parade

Posted on 09/30/2007 10:17:37 AM PDT by perez24

If this is not the place for vanity posts I apologize, but it's quite breaking news either.

I heard at my church today that the Westboro Baptist Church will be protesting outside of a Roman Catholic and an Episcopal church next Saturday and a memorial to fallen firefighters and another RC church on Sunday.

These aren't to protest funerals, rather to protest against...well...I don't know. Apparently God hates homosexuals, soldiers, firefighters, Catholics, and Episcopalians, though I'm not sure in what order.

We've been told that there will be police present and that the best thing to do would be to continue on to church as if they weren't there.

What else can I expect?

I truly wish you could expect lightning for that slimeball and his “church.”

I was at a funeral for a fallen soldier a few weeks ago. The Patriot Guard was there as well as hundreds of others to shield the family from the Phelps hate crowd which was there protesting. They had their own designated spot which was quite a ways from the church, and we all turned our back to them. When they realized no one was paying any attention, they left. The best thing you can do is just ignore these people. I realize that is very difficult at times, but they thrive on attention.

According to Phelps God hates everybody except him and his church -- everyone and everything else is a "gay enabler".

What you can expect is that WBC may or may not show up. They have a habit of announcing protests and then canceling. If they do, they are normally outnumbered by the anti-Phelps protesters. WBC will try to bait people, this is how they get their money -- by sueing both people and the towns were they protest.

When I have done counter protests of WBC I stand with my sign (God Loves Homosexuals - HE sent Jesus to die for their sins) and either pray or sing praises to the Lord. The churches may have anti-protests agenda already worked out, so listen to the leadership (who will normally have someone outside with a bullhorn).

Has Al Gore Jr. ever publicly denounced this man’s cult?

They used to be such good friends.

Then Al got a religion of his own and started selling indulgences to cure the public’s sins of global warming. Buy carbon credits now before the rush!

Have to wonder if Phelps, who is a DEMOCRAT first (and has run for office numerous times as such) is merely playing the Left’s idea of a “crazy Christian” so as to tarnish the so called Religious Right and any criticisms of the homosexual agenda.

We all know of his “God Hates Fags” banner waving family members (who comprise the bulk of his “church”) but in more recent years he’s been a heavy protester of the Iraq War (like any good Democrat) yet it hasn’t been as much of an indictment of the anti-war movement as his actions were to the anti-homosexual agenda movement.

They are a foul bunch of bile spewing hate-mongers. They visited my city four years ago and went around town spewing their bizarre, sick twaddle. Be prepared for a freakshow.

Fred Phelps is in the pocket of the homosexual rights lobby, which has invested deeply in him as the strawman of “organized anti-gay bigotry.”

WRT Phelps: Some people are alive only because it’s illegal to kill them.

I had a run in with some of the Phelps clan a few years ago. Let me tell you they are the most bizarre bunch you could ever have the misfortune of meeting. His “church” is nothing more than his family and several others that have married into the clan. Everybody in their town hates and fears them. Mostly because his children are all lawyers and will sue you for looking at them crosswise. Trust me when I say these people will be the next Heaven’s Gate. If you think the old man is crazy, his daughter is 100 times worse and she will take over after Phelps is dead. She already runs most of the “church” activity and is the head protester.
