Friendswood - Republican congressional candidate Chris Peden issued the following statement calling on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), and presidential candidate Congressman Ron Paul (R-Lake Jackson) to denounce the full-page advertisement, “General Petraeus or General Betray Us?” from Moveon.org, defaming General Petraeus that appeared in the New York Times on September 10th:
“Although I was encouraged by General Petraeus’ comments that the troop surge is working and I support the War on Global Terror, reasonable people can disagree over the general’s assessment of the War in Iraq. But MoveOn.org’s personal attacks on General Petraeus are reprehensible. We should not attack individuals; we should attack ideas and philosophies.
MoveOn.org’s inflammatory use of the word “betray,” impugn not just the general’s accuracy but his patriotism. That would be outrageous if it weren’t so patently ridiculous. Critics of the War in Iraq like Speaker Pelosi and Congressman Paul have a choice to make: either condone the politics of personal destruction that are the foundation of the specious charges Moveon.org has leveled, or condemn them as disgraceful. General Petraeus and the brave men and women in the U.S. Armed Services have dedicated their lives to defending the very freedom that guarantees Moveon.org freedom of speech. Having the right to say something does not make saying it right. MoveOn.org has confused free speech with the freedom of speech. All speech has consequences and having freedom of speech has responsibilities and the things we say have costs.
I call on the U.S. Congress to respectfully listen to what General Petraeus has to say; after a lifetime dedicated to defending freedom--he’s earned it.”

Peden Statement Calling on Democratic Leaders and Ron Paul to Denounce Moveon.org Ad
I was concerned it would be too long.

Peden is finishing a campaign to place onto the ballot via signature. If you live in TX14, and wish to sign his nominating petition, go to his web site for details. If you live in League City, and want to sign one, freepmail me.

Ron Paul "condemn" MoveOn? What... and risk alienating his BASE -- ?!?
A guy saw a Ron Paul sticker on a bumper and peeled the bumper sticker off. He found another bumper sticker underneath the Ron Paul sticker. It said "Ross Perot".
Please send Peden money!
BTTT
Chris Peden would be an improvement over Ron Paul in CD 14. Chris and his family are genuinely nice people too.
