Racy Burger Ad Leaves Teachers Furious
Fox News ^ | September 9, 2007

A fast food chain’s racy new advertising campaign has left at least one teacher’s organization demanding it be pulled.

The ad for St. Louis, Missouri-based Hardee’s Corporation features a sexy teacher, making provocative moves in front of the class while two students rap to a song called "Flat Buns,” according to a report on myFOXstl.com.

"How irresponsible can you get?” said the Tennessee Education Association in a statement on their website. ”At this very moment, there are female teachers in high school classrooms with 30+ students who are working hard to teach our children so that they can compete in today's world. It is unbelievably demeaning to every one of them to promote a television advertisement showing a young teacher gyrating on top of her desk while boys in the class rap about her body in order to sell hamburgers!"

Hardee’s claims the ad is obviously a spoof, pointing out that the target demographic for the ad is young men who find this type of ad campaign appealing.

The fast-food chain courted controversy before with a provocative hamburger ad featuring Paris Hilton.

Too bad for teachers. Decent men have been exploited by ads for years.

Every fricking commercial has a pathetic loser-guy juxtaposed to some ditsy broad who they make "smart" and "sophisticated". If this commercial were completely demeaning and wrong (which it isn't), I'd only be glad to see the tables turned for once.

I’ve had a personal boycott against Carl’s Jr. for the past 7-8 years, ever since they started specializing in low-class, sleazy ads to appeal to the grunge set. This ad is simply the latest in a long series designed to undermine whatever remains of decency, manners and adult behavior in this country. If that’s the demographic they’re after, they don’t want or need my business. I don’t even want to be around people who’d be attracted by such low-brow, tasteless advertising.

Sex sells. The target is 18-35 year old males.

Working hard and failing at it maybe.

The lady in the ad is no teacher.

I'm surprised by the level of generosity displayed with your use of the term lady.

10 grade geometry, first semester, first year teacher. 32 years ago.

If I close my eyes I can still see her. Tight skirt, shirt tied off to show her bare midriff.

The only time I ever got an A in math. The rest of the guys paid attention as well.

She left after one semester. We never found out why. She was replace by some old hag.

My math grade dropped back to a C.

Yeah, attractive women don’t have much effect on young men.

I’m sure Hardies will realize their mistake when the sales plummet as all those 20-something males stop buying their burgers.

Dude... you are way off. I just read an article about some 92 year old farmer in India fathering a baby. Is Arnold putting saltpeter in the California water? :)

I’m glad the teachers of STL have nothing else to worry about. In some urban schools the kids can’t read, figure math and often kill each other. I am very happy the biggest concern in STL is a sleazy commercial.

They are not marketing to you. The market is 18-35 year old men.

Just like the sexy women in bikinis in beer commercials are not designed to appeal to blue haired old ladies.

The couple of ignoramus, wannabee-black, chump white boys, rapping the song is far more offensive then the gyrating teacher.
