Kathy Griffin's Bravo series "My Life on the D-List" won the Emmy for "Best Reality Program (non-competition).
Her speech was memorable, in which she refused to thank Jesus.
"A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this. He had nothing to do with this," Griffin said. "Suck it, Jesus. This award is my God now."
The comic has won that Emmy shes long coveted.
Seen her with my wife at the Hampton Beach Casino NH.
One whole part of her act dedicated to bashing Bush and conservatives.
Great tagline!
Perfect description of her.
One sad thing is that Christians will speak out against her. Too bad she didn’t have anything similar to say about moHAMmed.
My wife & I often discuss how many people feel so threatened by Christianity & most will explain the emotion is based around the belief that organized religion is corrupt or people are mind numbed and then placed into submission by religious authorities.
However, I think there is a direct fear of the God & people do not want to acknowledge His existence, althougth deep down they know He is there.
Danke. It came from a buddy through an email. I couldn't resist it.
Right, there’s no belief there. What utter foolishness as well as contempt for almighty God. To blaspheme is one thing, but to millions of people all over the world!! These celebrities are so full of themselves, aren’t they? What a cesspool hollywood is, but then, the cesspool extends beyond just hollywood. How long will God continue to bless this profane, immoral and blasphemous nation?
The power of life and death is in the tongue.
Careful what’cha ask for.
shes so ugly that her momma slapped the doctor when she was born
She so ugly the dogs she scared off the meat wagon actually vomited
Shes so ugly that the Chinese refuse to sell her anything
I read this today. This bible chapter talks about how idols are worthless and how we should turn to G-d for salvation. I pray Ms. Griffin or anyone with this worldview has a change of heart before it is too late.
Isaiah 46
Gods of Babylon
1 Bel bows down, Nebo stoops low;
their idols are borne by beasts of burden. [a]
The images that are carried about are burdensome,
a burden for the weary.
2 They stoop and bow down together;
unable to rescue the burden,
they themselves go off into captivity.
3 “Listen to me, O house of Jacob,
all you who remain of the house of Israel,
you whom I have upheld since you were conceived,
and have carried since your birth.
4 Even to your old age and gray hairs
I am he, I am he who will sustain you.
I have made you and I will carry you;
I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
5 “To whom will you compare me or count me equal?
To whom will you liken me that we may be compared?
6 Some pour out gold from their bags
and weigh out silver on the scales;
they hire a goldsmith to make it into a god,
and they bow down and worship it.
7 They lift it to their shoulders and carry it;
they set it up in its place, and there it stands.
From that spot it cannot move.
Though one cries out to it, it does not answer;
it cannot save him from his troubles.
8 “Remember this, fix it in mind,
take it to heart, you rebels.
9 Remember the former things, those of long ago;
I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me.
10 I make known the end from the beginning,
from ancient times, what is still to come.
I say: My purpose will stand,
and I will do all that I please.
11 From the east I summon a bird of prey;
from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose.
What I have said, that will I bring about;
what I have planned, that will I do.
12 Listen to me, you stubborn-hearted,
you who are far from righteousness.
13 I am bringing my righteousness near,
it is not far away;
and my salvation will not be delayed.
I will grant salvation to Zion,
my splendor to Israel.
Footnotes:
Isaiah 46:1 Or are but beasts and cattle
And she likes that “The Pride of Memphis!” BBQ sauce too.
That reminded me of an incident that happened locally here a few years ago. A young man was driving too fast coming down a mountain rode and crashed his car and was killed. The tape you mentioned was in the casette player and that song was playing when he wrecked.
The idea is expressed time and time again in the Bible - If you wish to live without God, He will grant it -- for eternity.
But the idea is also repeatedly expressed that when you turn to God, He grants you eternal life, whatever your sins, even the apparently capital sin of making foolish remarks.
I just think the speedy rush to consider Kathy Griffin's eternal damnation, for ill-chosen words, is odd. God Almighty cannot be a moody teenager, holding grudges and enacting petty revenge. His mercy must surpass anything we can imagine.
I think Monica had a hand in writing post #3.
Could she be more disgusting?
One doesn’t blaspheme something one believes in. One might question it at times (as we all do God) but one does not blaspheme.
Our questions come because we haven’t the ability to understand God. We are imperfect unlike Him. We can’t conceive His perfect being, so we see Him through our prism which is imperfect. I know I’m babbling but can’t say it clearly otherwise. After all, I’m imperfect.
However, it really doesn’t matter what we think of her. This is between her and God. As for our nation, I don’t get too wrapped up in what God thinks of nations. He’s told us to render to Caesar what is Caesar’s. The Bible makes no distinction between good and bad governments in this regard. That is a Worldly issue. What God will judge is not government but the people. It’s the people who create governments, and their actions in doing so, or in maintaining their existence, will be part of that judgment. At least, that’s how this imperfect fella sees it.
“Many of these liberal/obscene outlets would go broke if that ever comes about.”
Nah. They’d end up subsidized ala NPR and Public Television. :(
Pretty much sums up her character.
Her main act is to make fun of the debased Hollyweird crowd. When she sticks to that, she’s quite funny. But she (obviously) doesn’t like the “born again” crowd either.
