OK, I have a question for Friday night amusement.
I went to get cat food out of the pantry for my kitty and it wasn't sealed properly so hundreds of ants got in it. I didn't want to throw it away so I decided to nuke them. I set it on high for 30 seconds. They went crazy but still alive. I repeated, still alive. I tried 1 minute, still alive. Another minute, still alive. (This is a brand new Mocrowave) In total, 7 1/2 minutes. The bag melted and some of the ants were sitll alive! I think they may take over the world.

What's up with that? No, I am not stupid, quite the contrary. My hubby is also amazed!

Maybe their exoskeleton protects them from the microwaves?

Turn the power up....
Next time use a sealable container, keeps food fresh and eliminates having to nuke ants.

Bookmarked for the solution, I am sure some great mind here on FR will provide.
But still laughing out loud!

Ah therein lies the problem.
Seriously though I am somewhat surprised although I have read that the government is creating a crowd dispersal weapon that uses microwaves to inflict horrible pain without causing any permanent damage. Although the weapon uses shorter waves at higher frequencies than microwaves.
