Ladies and Gentleman, Peeps of All Three Sexes, the College football season is here!!!
Tonight's slate works out a little somethin' like this (Due to East Coast bias, all times are Eastern):
7:00 PM Buffalo at #16 Rutgers
7:00 PM Miami (OH) at Ball State
7:00 PM Southeast Missouri State at Cincinnati
7:30 PM Murray State at #10 Louisville
8:00 PM #2 LSU at Mississippi State
8:00 PM Kent State at Iowa State
8:00 PM Southeastern Louisiana at New Mexico State
8:05 PM UNLV at Utah State
9:00 PM Weber State at #24 Boise State
And in a few short hours, I'll be heading on a jet plane to the West for:
10:00 PM Utah at Oregon State
Break out a case of Pabst, throw some steaks on the grill, and find a foam finger, the season is here!

Lloyd Carr will be forever remembered as the guy that lost to Appalachian State.
Good grief.

But my Sporting News College Football magazine says Michigan goes 12-0.
Perhaps they meant 0-12 and it was a typo.

The team you gotta feel sorry for is Oregon (Mich plays at Oregon next week).
Oregon's no pushover at home...the skunkbears could be in for a rough season.

those girls have been and Florida State games the last 7 years. What's in YOUR wallet?

Tech looked pretty good and as is typical, they warmed up at halftime..... I think Minnesota would say Tech is a second half team... ;^)
To: BurbankKarl
Well, they didn’t help last night!

Great description! Regrettably, I missed the Cal Tennessee matchup as I was sequestered at the Los Angeles Coliseum for Pete Carroll’s best impression of an NFL pre-season game. No Patrick Turner, no Chauncey Washington, no revelations about the 2007 Trojan playbook - just a bunch of second team freshman trying to make an impression running plays that looked like they came out of the nearby Loyola High School junior varsity playbook. Yawn... I hope they exert a little more effort in two weeks when they travel to Lincoln.

Pete gave the freshmen a chance to play and they still won by 28 points. I don’t think Pete even cracked open the 2007 playbook - he’s saving that for Lincoln.

I hope you’re right! There were too many turnovers for my comfort. They can afford that with an Idaho team -— but not with the Huskers.

“No Patrick Turner, no Chauncey Washington, no revelations about the 2007 Trojan playbook ....” LOL! I was wondering where Chauncey was. I seriously thought he must have gone pro!
To: soccermom
Chauncey was banged up from practicing full speed against the Trojan defense the week before - we’ll see him play in Lincoln...

"Can Michigan ask for a refund? :-)" Lol, but think about it, this is going to cost App State a lot of $ next year...
Big guys will look elsewhere for their "toon-ups."

It's about 11:30AM PST on Tuesday, where are the rankings?
Are they waiting for late returns from Big 10-11 voters?

Must be, seeing as I can’t find the rankings anywhere other than USA Today, which is a site where we can’t excerpt. When I see either poll, I’ll post a separate thread.

Thanks, I see that LSU gained some on USC and Michigan is OUT..
I found it a little surprising that there was not a single other mention of LSU on this thread...

I’m a USC fan and I wouldn’t mind in the slightest to see USC and LSU swap rankings -— I don’t like having the bull’s eye. I was surprised there wasn’t more of a split in the votes for first place and I’m surprised Bezerkeley isn’t higher.
To: Positive
Probably delayed because of the Monday night games.
To: Positive
The Western Athletic Conference will probably offer them a spot in their D1 conference. They only have Boise State and Hawaii as premiere football teams (and Louisiana, as in Louisiana Tech, isn’t any further west than North Carolina, really).

My bad. The game is at Michigan. Which may be a good or bad thing for UM. If Oregon takes an early lead the crowd will boo them I'm sure.

I thought that was a nice touch that USC did with the delay of game penalty on the first PAT after their first touchdown.
