(AP) NEW YORK -- Something was different about newborn Jeshuah Fuller, but his proud parents couldn't quite put their finger on it.
Then his doctors, always on their toes, figured it out: Jeshuah was born with a few extra digits -- six fingers on each hand, six toes on each foot.
Jeshuah, born in Brooklyn on Tuesday, is healthy and weighs just over 7 pounds. His rare condition, called polydactylism, is usually genetic. His dad was born with an extra finger on his left hand.
Jeshuah's mom, Quana Morris, said she'd had an ultrasound image taken during her pregnancy and knew he'd have extra fingers.
"We were counting them on the sonogram," she told the Daily News.
The extra toes, though, were a surprise.
Jeshuah is getting a hand from his doctors to deal with the bonus digits, which are outside the pinkies and little toes and serve no purpose. He'll have them surgically removed in a couple of weeks, his mom said.

They say you should always count the toes and fingers first. I didn’t.

Wait, don’t remove them, he’ll be able to count to 24 before his classmates.

Probably make a great pitcher, the Yankees should sign him now before the price goes up.(The way the bullpen looks they could probably use him next year)

Way back when ~ same date in December 1966 at Dundalk, I had a pre-induction physical.
While we were all standing around bent over waiting on the doctor with the gloved hand to come around one of them suddenly shouted "We've got a winner". Turns out the guy had an extra toe. The other doctors ran over to take a look and one of them shouted excitedly "And, he's got another one on the other foot. Let me see his hands".
The recruit was told to stand up, collect his clothes, and "see that guy over there. You can go home, and none of you guys look up."
I think I almost met that baby's grandfather!

Interesting story, and strange. All I can add is what my Grandfather told me before I left for my physical (nervously). “When you bend over make sure you only feel one hand on your back - not two.”

A boy in China was born with a
functional extra arm.
But the arm was excised for social reasons.
Still, an extra arm could come in handy.
