CINCINNATI (Aug. 10, 2007) -- Rookie running back Kenny Irons of the Bengals will be out for the season after tearing a knee ligament during a preseason game at Detroit.
Irons, the Bengals' second-round draft choice from Auburn, is expected to recover fully by next spring, Cincinnati coach Marvin Lewis said.
Irons went to the locker room on a cart after hobbling off the field in a game the Lions won 27-26. He was diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Wasn’t he the last guy left on the team who hasn’t been put in jail this year?
Some kind of curse, I think. The Bengals have had only 1 winning season since 1990.
Too bad about Irons because he apparently IS a good guy. I enjoyed his work at Auburn, and figures to be a good prospect once he gets healthy.
NFL ping
Ouch. Sucks for Cincy; they really don’t have any RB depth behind Rudi Johnson. Kenny Irons could have been really good in that role, and eventually become a solid starter.
Looks like it’s up to Ronnie Brown to make Auburn look good this year.
Shades of Kijana Carter...
...since Paul Brown died.
Abolish the preseason (Maybe have the Hall of Fame game stil) The season should be extended to 18 games and give all playoff-bound teams a bye so everyone will be fresh and ready to play.
The Bengal curse with RB’s continues.
Still using old material created by others in a time when it was relevant?
I take it Perry still hurt? Haven’t seen his name mentioned on their RB depth chart and he sure fitss into the “curse” pattern.

Yep. I think he’ll be on the PUP list til mid October. He simply doesn’t have an NFL body. Damn shame cause he had a great career in college, and one 14 game season where he caught over 50 passes coming out of the backfield.
Initial reports on Irons were promising....but you can’t rely on him now with a knee injury. His injury problems began his senior year, which is why he was available in the 2nd round to begin with.
Rudy is going to have a big year.
