The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Not until you accomplish something.

Or it hits 4:30. Whichever comes first.

...Watch out...remember I once almost started a flame war here by stating pretty much just that?

Mornin'...

Though...speaking of Hugh Grant, he actually was pretty well suited to play Edward Ferrars, who always struck me as *the* wimpiest of Austen guys.

Yep!

I can’t remember...were you hanging out here much at that point? I know a few have come and gone since then.

I think I like it because it doesn’t looked posed at all in my opinion.

Good morning!

Bear, can you tell me when I talked about my great grandparents in Jennings Oklahoma? I know I’ve talked about them a couple of times, but I wonder if you could tell me when I did it last...

I was talking to Rose about it...

Accomprish wa wakarimasen.

still waiting on the help desk to cal back. I am sure they will do it as soon as I open up some documents just so I have to close them and reboot.

Drat, I was hoping what I did this morning was more works than that. Oh well, more writing over lunch.

Oh, yeah, way the wimpiest. Too bad, really, it’s by far my favorite Austen book.

At least Darcy had character. He was annoying sometimes but not a spineless wimp.

Well, I probably can, but not until I get home from work tonight... we're heading out the door, and I can't post from work. But I'll look it up first thing when I get home again.

No rush!

I sent Rose a freepmail during that time with a link on it that I want. If I can just get the date, I can go back in my freepmails and find that link.

Whenever you get a free moment...it’s not important.

Colin Firth as Darcy or Alan Rickman as Brandon.... hmmm.

*snort* No contest; Alan Rickman as Col. Brandon, hands down!

Well...I like ‘em both. I don’t see this as an either or proposition...

Though I admit, Alan Rickman has it alllll over Colin Firth in the voice department. Vewy, vewy, vewy nice...

*melts into a puddle*

How do you feel about Hugh Grant?

I think my momentum is slowing. I need to wrap up part 1 of my story so I can start part 2 but it’s not so optimal. Also, I’m not sure how long it’s going to take to get action.

On the plus side, the bad guys in part 2 get to be more active than they were in part 1. They’re on offense now.

I don’t know if I’ll go to any of our write-ins this year. Last year it seemed to be mostly a bunch of bi teenagers, and the ML had everyone write on particular subjects instead of just doing word wars for a high word count, and kept interrupting so that I actually didn’t get as much written as I would have on my own.

Plus I’ve been writing everything on the typewriter first, and I don’t think I quite have the guts to show up at a write-in with a typewriter. Not because of the look of the thing or the Luddite quality, but because of the noise. There’s just no getting around the noise of a typewriter. All alone in my house, I glory in it, but I’m not sure others would glory with me. ;-)
