The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...
Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

No kidding!
I have an awesome, awesome husband.
(I also have named both the new evil character (Dion seemed fitting for an evil half-elf) and the main character’s child (Bennett seemed fitting somehow for an English major) so I’m double happy) Now I just have to write a term paper, do more cleaning, and re-plot the last two thirds of my story to insert more people.

That’s the sort of literature that makes me Xenuphobic.

Oh dear.
Sigh. Rewriting major portions of the plot days before NaNo is not the greatest plan but... it’s gotta be done...

Dion as in Celine Dion and Bennet as in Pride and Prejudice? ;-)

I don’t have any kind of ending whatsoever. And it’s suddenly hitting me that only have a coupla days left.

Dion as it was on a list of Shakespearean names and sounded evil, and Bennett because it works for Ben. I bet the subconscious P&P reference there as the mother is named Elinor like the S&S character.

I have an idea for an ending to the story I’m writing now, but I’m stuck and not making any progress besides that.

I think of it as writing into the dark. ;-) For NaNo purposes, if you concentrate on just the current paragraph, sometimes things fall into place as things go on.
I have the feeling that as soon as I start, the outline is going out the window. It’s my usual MO.

I always do that too. My current story is set in the summertime, and I’m still writing that now in late October.
I am not going to use it for NaNo though, so for that I will come up with something new.

Oh, honey, I don’t do NaNoWriMo. I’ve got other stuff I’d rather do, like paint cabinets, and help build a deck. ;o)

I guess my biggest problem with thread dementor types is they (for whatever reason) cannot draw a distinction between reading as entertainment and reading as worship. There is a difference, but it's wasted effort to try to explain it to them.Lord, ain't that the truth!

We're watching Chronicles of Riddick. Hadn't thought of the Necromongers as Islamofascists before, but it fits! They are all about 'convert or die'.

... cannot draw a distinction between reading as entertainment and reading as worship... Perhaps because they do precious little of either.
