This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
His genes are fighting in Shelley with the genes of her sire, who is a Conformation Champion and an affable sort who couldn't catch air to save his life -- or find a duck in a phone booth if you covered it with steak sauce . . .
Ruby the Wild Weasel still has a little conformation in her - but not hearly as much as Shelley - something less than 1/4 instead of a half-and-halfer, and those conformation dogs in her background also hunt.
Those are great dog pictures:) Bob, has a right to be proud:)
Good morning all.

How was the ride this weekend?
Becky
Good morning... Got stall stripping and new bedding on my agenda... and we bought a bale of straw to insulate our exposed pipe in the back.
We’ve had frost the last two nights.
It's wonderful when a young dog has that focus. You really cannot train it into them, they have to WANT those birds with all their heart.
The moment when the dog "locks on" the bird is just so exciting -- Shelley is pretty subtle, you can see her "freeze" and her ears crinkle up and her eyes follow the bird. Ruby is far from subtle - her hair stands up all along her back, her tail "inflates" and she starts jumping up and down . . . . "mama! mama! it's a bird! it's a bird! can I get it? can I get it?" She has some calming down to do.
Good on Bob for picking a dog who has that steady temperament right off the bat!
We’ve got a few really nice fall days coming. I have Harley saddled.
That’s my agenda.
I think we are back to normal now:)
Becky
Wow... gonna ride a horse?! How exciting!
Which trail are you going on?
Well, I need to ride him, since I am seriously considering selling him....
I want him in shape, he’s gotten a bit fat again, and two, I need to ride him as much as I can to make sure I really want to sell. Probably wont’ know till someone actually shows up to buy him. I’ve talked to one person who says he wants to come see him, but that remains to be seen. I’m 99% sure I want to do this, but...:)
It’s kind of funny, no one I’ve talked seems surprised about the change I’m considering, LOL..except my family:), and I think most of their objections are just to give me a hard time.
Becky
I think it’s real interesting... and if I was your family I’d probably give you a hard time too.
Heck - I may still give you a hard time :~)
Have fun on your ride. Harley’s a good horse, I’m sure I don’t have to tell you to think long and hard about it... you’ll decide what you want to do :~)
Earlier in the year I remember reading some posts about a guy named Sonny who is a legend in his own mind. Not sure if this is that same Sonny but I’m thinking it is.

Some of you may find some interesting reading in the magazine. It’s our breed publication and free online. There’s a good article about equine dentistry in there.
Miss Hope...
Which article is it that the Sonny guy was in? I wonder if it’s the same guy who was such a big-head trainer-guy over on the horse.com forum that Tuffydoodle liked to humiliate.
There’s an article in the lower left hand corner. If you hit the plus button it will enlarge it to a full page. Horse is sitting on a bale of hay. I figure there can’t be many of those guys named Sonny, and that section of the mag takes articles submitted by the public.
I’m a dummy. Thought original link took you right to that page. Duh!. He’s on page 100.
Yep, that’s him alright!
Tease ;~)
Isn’t she pretty:)!!

Is FR running slow for everyone?
Just got back from town. I talked to the newspaper lady, and made the corrections:). It will come out in the paper this week, everyone who wants a copy send me your addresses.
She told me that of all the small town papers this company prints papers for, Broken Arrow, Bixby, etc...the story about you all coming here was the most read story of all the papers this past weekend:)
Becky
Heh... wonders never cease :~)
Here's what's been going on here.
There are two horses here on the property now. Four of us have been taking lessons, soon to be back down to two because basketball practice for the 15 y.o. will interfere with her riding. I'm going to look at a horse in Tennessee next Monday, and my husband and son-in-law have started building a barn.
