****THE OFFICIAL FRIDAY SILLINESS THREAD****(Salute to Pet Peeves)
Pet Peeves ^

Posted on 08/03/2007 4:45:17 AM PDT by Lucky9teen

A pet peeve (or pet hate) is a minor annoyance that can instill great frustration in an individual.

The term originated from the word 'peeve.' A 'peeve,' meaning something that is particularly irritating or annoying, is a relatively recent word. Its first printed usage was in 1911. The term is a back formation from a 14th-century word: 'peevish,' meaning ornery or ill-tempered.

Pet peeves involve complaints about specific behaviors, rather than general complaining. Pet peeves often involve specific behaviors of someone close such as a spouse or significant other.  These behaviors may include those of disrespect, those involving manners, personal hygiene, relationships, and family issues.

Here are some of my Pet Peeves (in no particular order):

It was Mickey D’s and I think it was her idea. Her ankle biters drove the decision I’m sure.

WASHINGTON
Reagan
Roosevelt (TR)

But except for Washington (unquestioned), it’s sort of up for grabs. I’d have to think more. Definitely not Lincoln or “that other Roosevelt”.

Agreed!

But SO many other horrible grammar errors these days!

My BIGGEST peeve on grammar - it’s RAMPANT in the allegedly learned and English-driven MEDIA. In the last 15 years, with computers, English even in the print media has gone down the tubes. They are almost as rife with errors as this Internet forum. Both spelling and format. It’s horrible.

For another specific spelling peeve on the Internet fora - “DEFINATELY”! GGGGRRRRRRRR!

You are correct, there are dumb impolite truckers. In fact I get peeved about them more than I do about four wheelers. The truckers don’t have any excuse. If you get a chance to listen to truckers call-in radio you would hear many calls condemning tailgating, not letting another vehicle merge and other idiotic things you can do.

Most truckers are polite and considerate. Think how a 80,000 lb truck could dominate the road. If you see a trucker doing dangerous or illegal acts, call 911. Thanks for your thoughtful comments, we need more of that.

As well as hands, arms, small children. . .

Serious question though if you have a second. I live in Ohio, do you have any suggestions on where to start in terms of taking him fishing? What we should go fishing for, what I should get him as a starter set? Since I have no clue what I am doing, I don’t really want to take him out to Lake Erie and hook something that looks like that.

Thanks in advance.

I just bought a new Harley Davidson embossed jacket. I would look pretty funny wearing it on that thing. I will just stick to my HOG.

Hey.

I’ve been trying to get my country club project out. We’ve been working nights and weekends for the last few weeks... but we finally got it finished.

Been a while since I lived in Ohio. But how about the Maumee river? Don’t remember if it is the season.. but lots of walleye in there I think.

most of my wife’s family are truckers, they’re all good guys, and considerate drivers.
just like any other group, there are the considerate drivers and the jerks. of course, the only people that get a worse rap than truckers, are bikers :)

Zebco 33.

My dad had one when he was a kid. I had one. (I still have one for crappy fishing) Been around for years. A LEGEND!

OK for kids, not much else. It’s kinda like the Harley of fishing, everyone has one, but they know they aren’t even close to the best you can get.
