The teaser trailer for the "Batman Begins" sequel, "The Dark Knight," debuted on-line yesterday. Unfortunately, the teaser shows no footage, just a breaking away Bat symbol with a dialogue between Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne and Michael Caine's Alfred. At the end, for the first time, we can hear Heath Ledger's Joker speaking.
The trailer premiered in light of Comic Con in San Diego, on a viral marketing sight "run by the Joker himself," whysoserious.com. Batfans were actually sent on a scavenger hunt around the city to unlock clues from the website to unlock the teaser.
There's more info on the site itself.

Bat-ping.
C’mon...some of them were a “little” funny.
It’s not a bad Jack Nickolson/ Joker impression from Heath, not bad at all.
He’s got the crazy laugh down pretty well, too.
Is this movie suppose to take place between Batman 1 and Batman 2 chronologically? The ones directed by Tim Burton?
Actually, no, and I’m glad to clarify that, because I know that can be confusing.
“Batman Begins” was actually not a prequel to “Batman,” but the start of an entirely new Bat-movie franchise. So the sequels (it will probably be a trilogy) will have all new takes on the characters, and it will (respectfully) have nothing to do with Tim Burton’s movies.
The thinking was that since “Batman and Robin”, the one with George Clooney, was so unbelievably awful, that the only way to continue more Batfilms would be to start over from scratch. Although it took them about eight years to figure out how they wanted to do it.
Uh-huh.
OK. I was reading about how in a third film they are hoping to have the Harvey Dent/ Two-Face conversion and maybe have the penguin, I’m sitting here scratching my head. If they are going to start from scratch, I hope they make a series out of it, like James Bond. It’s not like there aren’t a plethra of villains to choose from for each possible movie.
I can't wait to see the new one. I know that Heath can't hold a candle to Nicholson's Joker, but I heard that he's still menacing.
Thanks for the heads-up! Great teaser. Really looking forward to this one.
Yeah, the James Bond analogy is a good one. That’s been Warner Brother’s thinking for a while now.
Unfortunately, Batman is the only profitable franchise coming out of the WB/DC partnership. While Fox and Sony are cranking out one major hit Marvel Comics movie after another. “Superman Returns” was a flop and so far, they can’t seem to get any other DC characters off the ground for movies.
Just an FYI, that first poster is a fake. That’s a photoshop someone did...although it is a VERY good one.
The second one is real, though.
Sure thing!
I can’t wait for this one, either!
And, just IMO, I think people are underestimated Heath. I think a lot of people are going to be surprised...just from what I’m hearing.
LOL, yeah.
They actually did start on a “Wonder Woman” project not long ago (after years of development hell), with Joss Whedon directing. Then they found a script “they liked better,” fired Whedon, and now have no director, OR a female lead to play Wonder Woman, and they’re right back in production hell again.
Bryan Singer is going ahead with a sequel to “Superman Returns” (”Superman Leaves Again?”), but it’s already off to a really bad start. It’s supposed to come out in 2009, but the only thing they’ve accomplished so far is convincing Kevin Spacey to return as Lex Luthor.
