High-flying John Travolta is in an uproar over an airport near his $8 million home in Florida. Travolta contends he was lied to(!) by owners of the Greystone Airport near Ocala, Fla., because they didn't want him to land his Boeing 707 there.
In a lawsuit filed Wednesday, the new Mrs. Edna Turnblad claims that Greystone owners James and Christine Garemore falsely told Travolta that they couldn't accommodate his jumbo jet. It's so tough owning your own plane!
Travolta says he used to use the Greystone airport all the time, but in 2006, the Garemore's changed the airport's master record to indicate that large planes could no longer land there. The Garemores cite deteriorating runway conditions as a major reason for the change.
But Travolta isn't buying it.

I thought he had his own runway and parked it behind his house.

Thought he owned the runway as well, but apparently doesn't - the runway behind his house is the Greystone Airport.
Here's the airport information, 2" thick paving, uncrowned? Shocked that it survived as long as it did with a 707 landing and taking off on it. The lawsuit is because Travolta's upset that he might never get to fly in his 707 to his home again. Aww, poor baby.
If he wants to invest the money in rebuilding the runway, I'm sure that the airport managers would be more than willing to let him.
Man, two inch thick? The street in front of my house is thicker than that, completely unsurprising it fell apart under that load.

For the owners of the airport, maybe its about:
Stayin' Allliiiiiiiivvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeeeee .....
To: kingu
Yes. It sounds like his best deal is to pay for a runway upgrade to meet his a/c requirements. That would be a win-win deal all around.

If he bought it, he could then officially call it the "John Travolta International Hairport"...

This, the Travolta lawyers, say is a lie, and demand be retracted from the general aviation master record.

There are more important issues. BTW, I didn’t like his performance in the Wild Hogs but I liked the movie. Whatever.
