The costume party caper in which police said a Melbourne doctor dressed as comic book superhero Captain America groped a woman at a city bar and battered her boyfriend has cost him his job, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.
Raymond Douglas Adamcik, 54, was charged with misdemeanor battery, disorderly conduct, resisting an officer without violence and marijuana possession in connection with the April 21 incident at On Tap Sports Cafe and Lounge in Melbourne.
Deborah Young, director of physician services for Melbourne Internal Medicine Associates, or MIMA, the group that oversaw Adamcik's practice in their Palm Bay facility since October 1996, said his employment was terminated July 13.
In April, a MIMA official said told Florida Today that the doctor had taken a leave of absence while he underwent counseling, paid for by the state medicine board. The "leave of absence ... expired July 13, at which time we determined that he would be unable to continue his practice with us," Young said. "We felt that he would benefit from a fresh start elsewhere, and we felt that it was important for us to maintain our outstanding reputation in the community." Young said MIMA did not discuss with Adamcik his future career plans. Adamcik did not return a message left at his home on Wednesday. Police said Adamcik groped the woman and knocked her boyfriend to the floor during a costume party at the bar. Initially, he also was charged with felony destruction of evidence after authorities said he tried to flush a marijuana cigarette down a toilet while being booked for battery, but prosecutors reduced the charge to misdemeanor possession. In a bid to avoid trial, Adamcik entered a pretrial diversion program for first-time offenders this month that could result in the charges being dropped, his attorney said. A state attorney's office spokeswoman said the charges will be dismissed if Adamcik successfully completes the one-year program, which requires him to perform 75 hours of community service, avoid all contact with his alleged victim other than to write a letter of apology and not return to the bar. Court records show Adamcik also is required to pay about $900 in investigative and court costs, submit to random alcohol and drug testing and comply with the Palm Beach Institute aftercare program for what his attorney, Greg Eisenmenger, said is ongoing treatment for depression associated with publicity surrounding the incident. A judge must approve his successful completion of the pretrial diversion program. Eisenmenger said it is unlikely a misdemeanor conviction would have put Adamcik at risk of losing his medical license. But it would have tarnished the first-time offender's criminal record, he said. "If he'd gone to trial and been found not guilty, all he'd be eligible to do is to have his record sealed," Eisenmenger said. "With a pretrial diversion you can have a record expunged." |
What branch of medicine did this nut fall from?........
I thought he was dead.
Yeah, wasn't he killed by a group of rednecks at the end of Easy Rider?
Yet a serial rapist can keep his job as governor/president and even have NOW defend his gropes because he holds the right position on abortion.
Captain America is dead. The Marvel Entertainment superhero, created in 1941 as a patriotic adversary for the Nazis, is killed off in Captain America #25, which hits the stands Wednesday.
No, he ran off with Wonder Woman............
He shoulda dressed as Bill Clinton, then he would’ve gotten a pass.
Dear Lois;I'm so sorry for your broken jaw.
And the missing teeth.
And your swollen tongue.
I'm sorry you have to drink liquids through a straw.
I hope you recover real soon.--Clark
P.S. I promise to never ask you for oral sex again
