Police: Pa. Boy Stabs Brother Over Game
Jul 17 01:16 PM US/Eastern
LANSDOWNE, Pa. (AP) - A 13-year-old boy fatally stabbed his brother with a steak knife after the 16-year-old refused to turn over a video game controller, authorities said.
Jahmir Ricks was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Antwan Ricks at their home outside Philadelphia. The older boy died of a single stab wound to the chest, police said, and a bent and bloody knife was recovered from the home.
Lansdowne police said the younger boy told them, "I just stabbed my brother," when they arrived at the home Sunday.
Police believe the argument started when Antwan Ricks would not turn over the game controller after losing a game to his brother. Police Chief Daniel Kortan said the rules of the house were that the person who lost had to give someone else a chance to play.
The argument escalated into a brawl, and the younger boy grabbed the knife, Kortan said.
Antwan Ricks was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Jahmir Ricks, who was charged as an adult, was being held without bail. It was not immediately known if he had obtained an attorney. He faces charges of third-degree murder, assault, recklessly endangering another person and possession of instruments of crime.

They've been saying that since "Pong" hit the homes of America.
No doubt, when I was youngish, video games were rewards for good behavour each and every day. Things like Myspace and Ipods were around (in a different form walkmen’s and passing notes) but we weren’t addicted to the things.
I say get tough on the youngsters, if they want to play video games, make them use strictly DOS ones like Wolfenstein or Tomb Raider.
At least then they would learn something, and to think of the money that bought those gaems, and where it could have been invested man, it makes me wonder about the future of the US.
Antwan losing (the knife fight) was Jahmir's chance to play.
Rudolf Guiliani + Benito Musollini / 2
Please, I don’t think video games are causal here, though it gives the story a convenient media angle. 20 years ago this kid would have stabbed his brother over Electronic Football.
Sometimes the unwed ghetto mothers do TOO much beating. Seriously. I’m all for corporal punishment, but the yelling and hitting rampant in some of the ‘hood is not good.
Some brothers kill their brothers without the benefit of a video game to blame. Cain was the first.
That’s Benito Mussolini
And the parents who were there said???
Jahmir and Antwan would be common black names here in inner city Los Angeles.
He came in with my dad's belt and whipped the buckle end across my back like you would not believe. I was wearing a halter top.
Raised a black welt on my back like I'd been horse-whipped! That learned me! Heh heh!
Rule number 1) The person that lost must give someone else a chance to play.
Rule number 2) Non-confirmity to Rule number 1 is a death penalty offense.
Rule number 3) No snitching.
Rule number 4) Keep it real.
Most hip hop MCs are all bluster.
I'm not sure that there is even a single hip hop MC with releases on the market that has taken a life.
The criminal records of most hip hop MCs include drug possession, DUIs, possession of unlicensed firearms, auto theft and perhaps an assault.
Too much beating is NOT training a child.
Action->Consequence = 1 FORMAL swat, on the behind, over your knee. That’s training a child.
Yes, ghetto mothers have no training/example in being parents, but our tax dollars make sure that they can keep spewing out these untrained barbarians with no consequences to themselves.
Ahhh, the good old days before the pause button. You had to get the ball 'stuck' between the corner and the paddle so you could run to the bathroom!
Ah. So he is.
LOL...
Shoot, did I laught out loud? I guess that ages me, huh?
