With Buells announcement of the 1125R the company seems set to give reviewers exactly what they asked for a host of Buell innovations wrapped around a proper liquid cooled engine. The BRP-Rotax engine cranking out a claimed 146hp at the crank, which may not be set to break the convention of the superbike category, it certainly fits the sportbike descriptor. For Buell though, whose marketing has played the patriotism card in the past, the 1125Rs outsourced engine presents a represents a gamble, namely will the bike be American enough to woo the home market? Core to that issue is the poser; does it matter where the components come from?

No kidding, they should stick to the highly profitable stuff like marketing chinese made leather bandana's and dog collars. < ducking >
Never had any experience with this particula Buell so I can’t say.
Two stokes ~ I did once own a RZ350. Funnest bike I ever had. Twostroke inline twin sportbike. Banshee engine. Bike weighed 298lbs. When opening the throttle you had best be laying forward across the gastank when the powerband hit.
EEEOOOOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!
That bike was more fun than the moto 125s on the track.
Hal is a very smart businessman with that kind of stuff! That's how you earn life-long customers!
That’s been on Buells for about forever now.
That’s NUTS riding like that on pavement. I did run a lot of race miles on a 500cc plus 2-stroke (yep, rotax) quad, some on pavement and it was a bear, but more for the turns and having the 2 tires 4’ apart with a straight axle than the powerband kicking in. i had a lot more weight hanging out front than an rz350.
and cappachino makers
and playing cards
and cigarettes
and stickers for the back windows of Toyata Camrys
and dog sweaters
and coffee mugs
and “collectible” “nostalgic” dartboards
and chaps, tshirt, boots, vest, dewrag, beltbuckle, wallet-on-a-chain, watch, and leather pants. (All worn by a person that does not own a bike)
Ducatti mudflaps????? Nah, just don’t seem right.
Best way to spot a Harley owner is to look for the sticker on the back window of his pick up truck.
Ducati makes real motorcycles, they don’t need that crap.
I like the looks of that beull, though, and at my age probably wouldn’t notice much handling-performance difference over the gsxr.
Damn, I’d like a scooter for zipping around town with all the summer traffic here.
Dunno...hmmmm....
Well, the stickers are on trucks that are on the road.
Who knows how many chevy stickers are on HDs? Don’t most HDs spend most their days sitting in the garage?!
Rather own a Goldwing, thanks.
Well, I did promise to donate my testicles to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation . . .
Be the first on your block...!
I thought long and hard about the Goldwing before I settled on the Ultra Classic. I miss the peak power, though not enough to convince me to go with the ‘Wing.
I’m told the 103” Screaming Beagle upgrade makes a world of difference . . .
radiator? this is supposed to be liquid cooled bike.
No thanks, looks way too much like a loser-crusier (harley). I’ll bet it automatically gets the extra-loud exhaust after a couple hours from rust anyway.
Oh yeah, I had a neighbor who had a straight-piped harley who lovved to rev it up all the time, especially when people had friends and family over. I had a real POS lawn tractor that the muffler fell off of. Every time he’d fire up the cruiser, there I was with my cool lawn tractor, doing the same thing, pulling back the little governer plate so it would really rev up and backfire.
Once, he had a real nice lawn party, and I was really tempted to go mow the lawn with it, but being the nice guy I am, i couldn’t do it. Not for very long, anyway.
Wasn’t sure what the Ultra Classic was, so I looked it up. Very nice bike. I could be happy with this one too.
The Goldwing beat out the UC in every single category of function and feel....every single category of performance. What makes you like the UC? Just curious. It is a good looking bike thats for sure. I just have a hard time justifying the price.
