James Hetfield of Metallica may want to re-think the facial hair.

The British Broadcasting Corp. reported that Hetfield was detained at London's Luton Airport on Thursday because of his "Taliban-like beard."

He was not allowed to leave the terminal but was released after questioning. Metallica performed at the London Live Earth concert on Saturday.

Metallica is currently touring in the United Kingdom for their Sick of the Studio summer tour.

Watched a Metallica documentary a few years ago. (Not a big fan - just bored one night.) I doubt Hetfield would support Islamic jihad. The beard is just a fashion statement among heavy metal bands, I think. My brother sports one. :-)

I saw a hunting show a few years ago. James Hetfield and Ted Nugent were goose hunting. It was clear that James really enjoys firing a shotgun.

The Metallica documentary showed him hunting, too, and he was talking about how much he enjoys it. Of course, that doesn’t mean he’s not Left-leaning on everything else. For example, he said he was raised fundamentalist Christian and rebelled against it later. (Gee, come to think of it, I hope he didn’t choose Islam... just kidding! I doubt it.)
